Gotta love that final panel.

That's one thing I'm not really a big fan of... each generation's legendaries keep outclassing previous generations. Except Mewtwo, I guess.

I solved this problem by not playing anything past Pokemon Yellow.

Its like Dragonball you see, first becoming a monkey is your strongest form, then becoming Super Sayan (not as strong as the legendary Super Sayan), SS2 (oops, now legendary Super Sayan has been surpassed), SS3, joining, SS5 and etc....

It's more a matter of each surpassing generation having better game mechanics than each generation having better legendaries. Even then, some of the older ones (Like Jirachi, Mewtwo, and Kyogre) are still somewhat useful because of unique moves, elemental combinations, special abilities, or learnable TMs.

Wait, are we talking about Pokemon or masturbation? Cause I don't know much about Pokemon.

But based on stats alone, legendaries are still getting tougher. Which Pokemon can stand up to Arceus toe to toe, apart from another Arceus? Similarly, before D/P, Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza were nearly uncounterable. (Though Shedinja vs Kyogre is still highly amusing) Which legendary from generation 1 is still used competitively, apart from Mewtwo? (Okay, fine, Zapdos in a baton passing or sleep talking role, but only occasionally)

I can understand why the developers keep making more powerful legendaries, gamers would balk if the new legendaries were useless compared to the old ones, and it's all about moving cartridges off shelves. But still, it's hard to watch my old favorites like Raikou, Suicune and Latias get marginalized.

Garchomp, if built properly. You could also gamble and try using a fast Pokemon with a OHKO move.

Hmm, I'm skeptical about Garchomp, but I'll keep an open mind. As for OHKO moves, that's always a gamble, not really reliable enough to be a sure option.

By the way, if Garchomp can do it, wouldn't that theoretically mean Rayquaza and Salamence could too?

The biggest problem with defeating him is that you have to guess his type, but even then that will only give a slight advantage if you cant overcome his superior speed.

Although I have seen youtube videos of people beating him with Ratata, Mewtwo, Deoxys and Charrizard. Specially Ratata with Endeavor, then put Oddish to get him to sleep + Ultra Balls.

Fact: I've never played a Pokemon game in my life. Decent strip though, if predictable.

I'm glad he made fun of how stupid the Professor's new question was. "Can I bear the responsibility of giving these young children Pokemon?"

This thread is making me cry over my lost childhood and laugh hard. Doing both at the same time is as dangerous as it sounds, too =_=

man, that was some really terrible writing. the concept was okay, but
-aeris' diatribe doesnt really seem to fit as a response to the prof there.
-word "very" used twice in one sentence
-Rein typo - already mentioned
-"GOD OUT OF!" ????

well, they're nerds to be sure, but it is an interesting hobby. pokemon is allegedly a very complex game. i wouldn't know though, i usually just beat all the fights with my starter pokemon.

Pokemon's a good RPG. Stupid story though.

The joke of this strip comes from some dialogue changes made by Pokemon Platinum to Diamond/Pearl's original script.

When the professor lets you keep your first pokemon, he momentarily hesitates, pondering to himself if giving such things to children is a wise choice.

Naturally, he doesn't ponder very long, and just gives away his incredibly rare mons (I mean, they're the only ones in the world!)

It's like the start of an 80's comedy-action romp.

"A pre-pubescent kid who doesn't talk wants one of my super-powered battle monsters? What could possibly go wrong?"
