Video Game Statistics At A Glance

Only issue with that whole thing is that Wii Sports is the best selling game ever only because it comes with the main unit and that counts as a sale.

As a stand-alone game it would not get so many sales mainly because even though it has a bunch of different sports they are all incomplete. (Except the bowling.)

Well that also is the case with Super Mario Bros. (NES) that game came with the system as well. Also in Japan the Wii does not come Wii Sports in Japan. I am by no means saying it deserves the spot I am just stating a few useless facts.

And Duck Hunt and Tetris, too.

18 - 49 is a pretty big age block, I would've liked to see a more detailed breakdown.

Still quite interesting though. Nearly a quarter of Xbox 360s fail within 2 years?

Console pack-ins counting as sales is bullshit.

Especially counting a 2in1 game (Mario/Duck Hunt) as two separate games.

Wii Play being the number one selling game of all time is pretty much the biggest travesty.

It's not a good game. At all. In any way. It's completely terrible. It's barely a tech demo.

BUT, it comes with a Wiimote.

It's really telling that only half of those games are games I'd consider "hardcore friendly" and only ONE (GTA: San Andreas) is rated higher than E for Everyone.

The rest of those are generally actual games though (except Wii Fit, but that's all overweight soccer moms believing that Nintendo can help them not be fat). The Pokemon series, as much as I don't enjoy them, have their following. They're competent, incredibly addicting games. Hell, I own Brain Age, the game debuted at 20 bucks in Canada, I can only imagine it was even cheaper in the States and came out at the height of that sudoku craze. Nintendogs also falls into that weird addicting Tomagotchi thing that people just love, I understand that too. Wii Play however, is just plain terrible. Like, one of the worst excuses for a game ever to be released at full price.

That long list still shows that Nintendo is king of the hill. Whew. And clearly, hardcore games are not an investor's best friend.

Anyone that think Pokemon games aren't "HARDCORE" have never played them. That shit's fullfledged RPG collectamatic insanity.

Pokemon not hardcore? Shall we discuss EV training?

Please don't get started. No one will play Pokemon with me now since I'm the only one who knows about EV training.

I had a properly EV trained standard team that could regularly take out teams of ubers, I was so proud. :)

Except it's not really full price. Wii Play, which comes with a remote, is about $5-10 more than a standalone remote.

(Although personally, I don't think it's even worth the $5-10, but some people do)

Yeah, it's a good feeling to take the EV trained ones on the online Pokemon Battle Revolution, find your little Raichu and Venusaur up against Mewtwo and Groudon, and whip the shit out of that 13-year-old's legendaries.

Hmm, sounds like a good activity this evening.

I have bought two copies of Wii Play both from my local GoodWill. I paid $20 for one and it came with a nunchuck besides just the Wii remote . The other one I paid $30 for and I than went and traded the game into GameStop for $8 credit. But as far as the full retail price no I would not have paid full price for it:)
