We need to do something big for Dave (IMPORTANT!)

So Dave's out basically a good chunk of money, with the holidays coming up and he has kids, plus the HF bills, we need to do something, I dunno what but something.

Things I've thought of;

- Donate moar, I try to chip in a few bucks every paycheck but we really can cover the server bill if we all chip in a few bucks, plus turn back on Google Adsense (even if we have to remove NSFW to do it)

- Re-do secret santa, except all gifts go to Dave and his family members for Xmas, again secret as to who they're from but instead of us all getting stuff for each other, stuff for his family.

- Spread the HF word around, get more visitors, more visitors = more page views = more ad sense hits = maybe more people donating.

If anyone else has any ideas, by all means toss your two cents in the ring here.

We owe it to Dave.

Guys, really. Please. I'll use what has been sent already for December's HF payment, but we'll be okay. The IRC was just the initial shock.

I'm still employed and it's going to hurt for a while but we can make it. I won't be giving up DJing in the near future and my son is going to have to start chipping in from his (meager) job.

But we'll make it. There are many worse off than we are.

To be honest Mav, I want to do what Dave wants.

Here's the thing: If people want to send Dave stuff cuz he's our rocking admin and host GO FOR IT. If you want to support the FORUM by DONATING money to it so it doesn't impact Dave's pocketbook... PLEASE DO SO. He wants the Secret Santa thing to stay. Let's honor that.
But that doesn't mean you can't be awesome and support Dave and the Forum using the nifty support button up top.

Having done some research outside of Glorious Leaders' stubbornness, I'd say that if you can reach into your pockets and spare a few bucks, it would be greatly appreciated. He's making a significant contribution that we should make an effort to subsidize. If you're paying $15 a month for WoW, you're probably getting more enjoyment out of this place. Time to show it!

Remember at the very beginning, you took pains to emphasize you're one of us? We haven't forgotten that, man. One of us put himself and his family in financial difficulty just so we'd have someplace to say something about the last poster. I agree with the other guys, we owe you big. Huge.

I'm a poor student so I don't have much to contribute, other than goodwill and hugs. But I definitely wish I could do more.

I can see how the secret santa idea would make you uncomfortable. But I think that regular donations aren't too much to ask for, especially since the holidays are coming up. Even without this bad news, you'd have enough to think about without having to think about paying the monthly fee for this place.

Just forget the other stuff and consider this another routine thread pushing people to contribute a little to their home away from home, even though you never ask.

If these threads didn't make you uncomfortable than I don't think that as many people would be willing to help. But we know that we owe you a lot and we really appreciate what you have done for us. We also know that you would never ask for anything on your own and that is what makes us want to go the extra mile for you. If you came in and just begged for money every 5 seconds it would feel different but we know you would never ask yourself. So it makes it that much more fun and meaningful. So get used to it

yea, but also at the same time, you never really ask any of us to donate either. You work REALLY hard on this forum and we appreciate it (I can say we cause many us really do) a place to hang out and well... be us to an extent.

I hate to see this place go, but also I can see that YOU will never let this place "crash and burn" if you can help it, but I would feel really bad if you have to sacrifice some of your personal money to keep this place up where all of us can contribute some to help out.

I know for sure I can toss some money next month since this month is really tight with the closing and all

Sorry to hear that! My hubby was accused of stealing.They said he took about $400 worth of money and hounded him until he got pissed off and said he did it. He tells me he didnt but I don't know if I believe him or not. He lied about it at first but his story kept changing. I want to stand by him but I have doubts. Sorry for the thread-jack! LOL!!
