Website redesign

Okay, I know nothing about this. Is this good or not? I know some of you here are website designers. If I agree to this am I getting rooked or would this be good? These guys are both professionals and I have seen their portfolio.

Olorin, you can see why I was aghast at your offer of doing it for a gome. :D

Hey David,
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I finally found a developer who’s available to contribute to the project. He’s very good and cheap and we can definitely get this done for you.

Just so we can review the checklist of goals for the new site, here’s a recap to make sure I didn’t leave anything out:

-Splash page design with editable buttons for linking and email
-Interior forum page look and feel redesign (headers, background images, buttons, content styling)

Each of us bill at $40/hr and we estimate that this project will require 8 hrs from me for design and 4 hrs for development. This brings it to a combined total of 12hrs x $40/hr, equaling $480.

Please let me know if this fits your budget.

I appreciate you considering my services and I hope to be working with you soon.

If you've seen their portfolio, and you are very happy with it, then this is fine.

If you haven't seen several examples of their work, then I'd be worried.

$40 an hour seems like a decent rate, and the estimated time looks reasonable, too. Is that the final price, or can they jack it up on you if they say it takes more time than quoted?

Also, what's a gome?

pretty cheap. I still think you should let the forumites inhouse it though

Looks like a fair price, but it obviously depends on the end result if it's worth it.
I wouldn't do it for just a game if I wasn't a member here myself.

$40/hr, 8 design, 4 dev is pretty cheap Dave. A lot of shops charge much higher.

Just a quick question, have you seen examples of their work where the scope of work was similar?

If they showed you an ecommerce site they did for someone else, chances are they charged at least three times the price for that one, and likely spent more time on the site creative and (obviously) the backend.

Also, if they do work like that, they may prioritize according to size of the contract and put halforums on the backburner until the bigger ticket work is done.

That's the designer's site and the coder's name I don't know yet.

Developer is Chris Fitch. Here's a site he did, but I'm waiting for a link to his own site as the one I was given doesn't work.
