Wee Willy Wilkins eats two bananas

#1

CogNoman

Yikes! Pushin' it pretty late, but I made it here, haha. Great to meet everybody! Forgive the slowness; I had to fend off the evil Procrastination Platypus that lives in my mind. I hope to destroy him once and for all by the end of the month.

But yeah - here we go!

Day One: Squiggles with the technical pen.
FebCog1.png

I'm gonna try to mix things up this month. Do some life drawings to learn things, do some style experiments to hopefully discover things and do some other things that I haven't thought of yet, heh. Maybe some comics! I always did want to start up my own webcomic (but the Platypus always stopped me, curse him).

But yeah - lookin' forward to the month! Here we gooooooooo:

Whoa, it's like R. Crumb and Don Martin had a drug tripping baby. That's a compliment. Neat. Of course I remember you from Sketch Tavern. The SPEED with which you and Fennewalde draw is amazing.

Haha, thanks guys!
And Fade: If Crumb and Don Martin somehow managed to conceive a child together, I wouldn't blame the kid for being drug-tripping, haha.

Day 2: More squiggles
FebCog2.jpg

I think I might actually have some time tomorrow, so hooopefully I can push myself to try something more finished (by announcing that, I'm hoping I might actually follow up on it, heh).
Catch ya in 24-

EDIT: Oh - I'm just wondering; does anybody know if it's possible for me to change my thread title? I was thinking of changing it every time I upload a new pic (so today's thread title would be "Wee Willy Wunchkin eats two bananas."). I dunno, just figured I'd do it for the giggles, heh. But when I went to edit the first post, I couldn't find the option to edit the thread title.
If it isn't possible to constantly update the thread title, no worries at all, I shall leave it as is-
(i.e., "awesome", haha)

Day 3
FebCog3b.jpg

A friend typed the message "a crack pipe for a trachea and a beer hat full of LCD" today, and I assume he meant "LSD", but the imagery was too good to pass up, heh.
(For the record, I don't do any of those drugs... except for the LCD. I o.d. on that shit all the time you, that shit is fricky' wickyicky knaw'm sayin' a friday night and a good blast of the ol' LCD and we be partyin shnizzas yo)

Oh and for the record, I'm gonna try to be posting all my images before 3am Eastern Standard Time. Meaning this one's late by a half-hour, heh, but hopefully this'll be the only late one.

Hah, the Full Tolkien. He incorporated errors into his text as intentional. Neat idea, and I like the drawing. He reminds me of this kid Johnny I knew from elementary school who was born with no arms. His parents thought it would give Johnny an edge if they gave him giant pencils for prosthetics. It was all good until he stabbed Jinkles the Bully in the spleen. Which would've been almost acceptable, except the Bully title was ironic, like calling a fat guy Tiny.

#11

CogNoman

Thanks fade-

grurgh. This one's way late.

Day 4: "What I had done at 8:30pm on Day 4, when I had to head out, assuming I'd be back in time to finish it and post it, but ended up not. So here's what I had anyway...even though it's late, so it doesn't count"
FebCog4.jpg

This pic is late for Day 4, so it looks like I'm already kinda sucking at this beating-procrastination-thing, but I'll try to get this one finished... and then get a Day 5 pic up later too.
It's a long month; we're (or at least I am) gonna fail probably a few more times, but we just gotta persevere and beat our demons/platypuses.
Okay, no more late pics from here on in - that's the goal.

#12

CogNoman

Coloured the pic up to make up for my lateness. I'll get another pic done later.

FebCog4b.png

Also, fade - I forgot to say this last night because I was too busy slapping myself for being late, but your school sounds AWESOME, haha.
If I ever end up creating my own children with various objects around the house, I might have to get the name of that school off you-

It's too bad the shell is unassuming, because it probably wouldn't have been placed in such a predicament if it assumed a few things about its passengers before allowing them to board.

#14

CogNoman

Haha, thanks Puffy. It's funny that you think the shell allowed them to board, because I was half-assuming that they might have just high-jacked it, heh. I think your interpretation makes more sense, though, heh, because if the shell was so unassuming...he'd probably just carry people without having to be high-jacked. Perhaps I could learn from the shell, hmm...heh. (But yeah, there's no actual story for the title, heh, so I guess we'll never know)

Today: Figured I'd try a brush to try to push myself to break out of my art box a bit. I haven't touched a brush in years and even then it was only as a brief experiment for fun. But what is this month for if not to push ourselves, eh?

Swirling a brush around, trying to draw freehand with it but nothing came to mind so just ended up with a page of squiggles, heh:
FebCog5b.gif

After freehanding wasn't working, tried brushing from pictures:
FebCog5a.jpg

Picture 1. Googled "woman", ended up with this...I think she's a Bollywood star.

Picture 2. Googled "car". I thought this was a picture, so I downloaded it. But it turned out to be a painting. Oh well, it's a nice painting.

Picture 3. Duck

The picture based brushings are pretty nice (I think the car is the best one), but I have to say that what I really like is the dude outline on the left of the second picture.

#17

fade

fade

That brush style is awesome.
Added at: 14:57
I want to see more of those, actually. The duck particularly stands out me. It's kind of like a turn-of-the-century newspaper illustration or a wood block print (whatever the technical name for that is).

#18

CogNoman

Haha, thanks Terrik-
Jelly: The guy on the left is certainly the most abstract....hm. Maybe that's the trick to using brushes. Don't be afraid to let go, not obsess over details, and just go abstract.
fade: Thank you, f. I can't remember the term either... "intaglio", maybe? I dunno, not sure what "intaglio" is, but I believe I've heard the term in relation to wood block prints, heh (suppose I could Google it...).

This "sloppy" inking is pretty new to me and I ended up having a page covered way faster than expected...so I put some colours on the page to make it look like I did more work, heh.

Day 6: Inking with the blunt (wood) end of a brush, then adding details with technical pen to make the slop look like things:
FebCog6.jpg

#19

Silver Jelly

Silver Jelly

I do really like this one. A lot!

#20

Biannoshufu

I'd prefer to see it without the background textures, myself.

#21

CogNoman

Thanks guys!
Bianno: Yeah...if I had had a bit more confidence in the lines (if I had put more thought or effort in to them), I would have just put up the straight inks. Instead, I tried to use Photoshop trickery to try to polish it up, heh. But yeah... a solid ink drawing with time and effort put in might be better.

Anyways - Glurgh. Missed a day.
Not for lack of trying, though. I actually had a great idea for a pic, but just didn't have time to finish, and it wasn't the kind of thing that could go up half-posted. I'll try to get it finished soon.... when you see it, you'll know what I mean, heh.

Day 8: Meant to do life drawings, but these came out instead-

Day 9: Technical Pen drawings from objects around the house (ran out of time on the camera)
FebCog9.jpg

#23

fade

fade

That style works really well on the boot.

#24

CogNoman

Thanks fade. If I'm to be unabashedly honest about that boot drawing, I think the part that I find most interesting is the shoelace shadow. I generally avoid putting shadows in my drawing (mainly because I just don't think about them; my brain seems to work like a draw-er, seeing things in terms of "using lines to outline the physical objects" as opposed to the brain of a painter, who sees things in terms of light and shade), so that shadow was kind of a risk for me. But now that I've seen how cast shadows like that shoelace shadow can work, I'm tempted to throw in some more cast shadows in future drawings. Hm. I guess we'll see though.

Not today anyway, heh. Day 10: Experimenting with colour in Photoshop, because I love looking at colour, but I don't know how to paint and would like to learn-

LADYBUG!

#26

CogNoman

Haha, yep, Mr. Jelly.

Day 11. Back to the ol' technical pen. Wanted to push myself to do life drawings or learn to paint or something...but in the end, doodling with my pen for fun won out. Threw some shades on it to hopefully make the lineart less confusing.
FebCog11.jpg

#27

Jiarn

Your imagination and art style are just jaw dropping Cog, I'm sure you get that all the time though.

#28

CogNoman

Haha, thanks Jiarn, but no, it's not that common. I'm horribly unproductive when it comes to drawing; in the 6 months prior February, I probably only actually "drew" anything on maybe...12 of those days or so. I've had a goal of "making a daily webcomic" ever since 2005, heh, and so far all I have to show for myself is a short spurt of comics I made in '08 and another spurt from '10. I mean, I'm constantly dreaming of comics I would make and that kind of thing, but I never actually sit down and make them. That's part of the reason why I like this "draw-every-day" thing, heh - because for some reason it somehow bypasses my procrastinational tendencies and gets me to get off my duff. Not sure how it does that, but I'm secretly hoping that this February will be the February that will finally push me in to being regular with my work ethic, and so I can actually make something, heh. Thanks for the words-

That being said, here's some more doodles for Day 12, heh. Meant to do something more complicated (like life drawings or learning to paint), but doodling was more fun-
FebCog12.jpg

#29

Jiarn

I especially love your little "tag" CogNorman in every picture. Personally I prefer your doodles, if you ever had them collected in a book, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Reminds me of this book series I loved as a kid, with a kid with like a house in his head or something.

Bumble the Boy Wonder

Bumble the Boy Wonder

I'm totally amazed by your style. I just can't see myself creating anything that awesome! Do you start in one point and see what happens by the time you get to the end, or do you have these all planned out from the beginning??

That'd be the cover of Shel Silverstein's A Light in the Attic.

#32

Jiarn

Yes that's it, and I loved that book as a kid beyond words.

#33

CogNoman

Jiarn: Haha, thanks. You're making me start to think I should get off my duff and actually make something more than doodles, heh. And as for the little "cog" thing, yeah... it's kind of a fun thing that I like to hide in the pictures. Unfortunately, I keep forgetting to add it in this February, haha - I've already forgotten to add it in to some of the days so far (but I won't tell you which ones, heh heh).

Bumble: Yeah, for these last "doodle" ones I've just been taking my technical pen, starting somewhere on the page, and then just seeing what comes out. I usually start by drawing an eyeball...and then from there, just add in little things, whatever I happen to be thinking of. If I get an idea for something I want to add in to the picture, but it's too complicated for me to just freehand it, I'll usually lightly/loosely pencil in a loose guideline to follow, and then go back to freehanding with my pen. When I freehand like this, though, I should mention that it takes me a loooong time. I go reeeally slowly. Like, today's picture and yesterday's picture each took me more than an hour and a half to draw - and there's almost nothing on the page! Just a few characters. I'm hoping that if I do it enough, though, I'll eventually get faster. But I don't want to force myself to go faster until I'm ready. I used to draw "really fast" and really sloppy and loose, and over time I noticed that my drawings in general were all just getting lazier and lazier because I just kept cutting corners in order to make things fast. So I've kinda shifted my way of thinking recently in to forcing myself to slow down...and then hopefully build up speed that way.
Hm. That was probably waaaaay longer a reply than you were expecting, heh. Sorry B - the last two-thirds of that were just me thinking aloud to myself, haha.

Fade: Indeed - I loved that book too as a kid, but now that I think back, I don't think I actually liked the drawings very much when I was younger, haha. Only the poems. Odd.

Day 13. Life drawings will hopefully come tomorrow. I didn't really leave myself enough time to focus on something new and risky, so just resorted to the same stuff:
FebCog13.jpg

#34

fade

fade

I'm digging the shading. Speaking of the cog, one of the first things I noticed at Sketch Tavern was that everyone seemed to have a logo. I had to do it to after that, but I always forget to apply it.

#35

CogNoman

Thanks fade - yeah, shading things is new to me...but I'm starting to think more and more it might be good to do, so I'm just fiddling around with it a bit to see what might work.

Day 14. I really need to break out of my box and start doing some life drawings, or different styles, or trying different media, but again didn't have a lot of time, so kinda just resorted to my default again. I'll push myself tomorrow, heh-
FebCog14.jpg

And there's also this, heh. (I actually made it on the 13th, but it was too early to post it then, heh - and now it's almost too late ha, but I'm still posting it anyway):
halforums.jpg

I'm loving this Valentine's forum scheme, though. I've said it before, but this forum is using some crazy-advanced forum technology. I assume their must be some genius webdesigners/programmers here somewhere?

Goddamnit! The unicorn chewing on the corner on that banner nearly made me lose it!

Also, man living in my mouth? I've had that nightmare.

#38

Haha, thanks B and G.
And Gusto: Seriously? Haha, if you actually have had a nightmare like that, that's extremely cool, haha. I think it's one I might actually want, heh.

Day 15. Fiddling aimlessly around with Photoshop to break myself out of my box and hopefully warm up for a digital painting of some kind later in the month. Hopefully, heh.

It was awful. It was the first night I had with my Herbst Appliance.

Understandably I thought I was turning into a machine and, yes, at one point, even a dwelling.

#40

CogNoman

Ha, Gusto... I'm torn here. On the one hand, I'm sure it was scary, but on the other.... the idea of a Herbst Appliance turning a person in to a machine (or even a home of some kind)... is... also remarkably cool! Heh. I'd never heard of a Herbst Appliance before, but looking at that picture there, visually, it looks like a really neat thing. It might be a cool ornament to add to a character in a comic or something to give them a cool distinctive "look". I'm also surprised at how closely it resembles the device in the drawing - that's pretty interesting too.

Day 16. The quest to learn how to digitally paint. I got a picture off of Google Image Search and then tried to paint it in an hour. I'm almost a complete newbie when it comes to painting anything (even digitally), so I really should have put more than an hour in to this. Ah well. I thiiiink I learned something that I can use for the future. Hopefully:
FebCog16.png

#41

fade

fade

Really? Holy crap, that's one hour with no experience? I thought it was a photo of two plastic skulls, one a bit more lumpy than the other, until I read the caption!

(also, Gusto--Poltergeist must've really freaked you out.)

#42

CogNoman

Haha, thanks Fade. My goal with the painting was to mimic the one in the photo and there are so many obvious differences between the two that, while I was happy that I had tried it and discovered some interesting things, I wasn't really confident with the result. But a friend of mine also said a similar thing to what you said so I guess even though the painting isn't quite "exact", it's still interesting in some ways. I suspect that the fact that I used black and white, instead of colour, that that GREATLY added to the 'photographic' effect (colour would be much more complicated, I suspect).

Anyways. I made a short 'tutorial' picture on how I made the above if anybody wanted to see it. Dunno if anybody'll really care, but here it is, heh:
FebCog16tut.png

And below is my drawing for today. Continuing the quest to learn how to paint, I figured I'd try painting a quick drawing. Just did a simple drawing of, basically, 2 blobs with eyes because I thought it'd be quick to paint, but I only got part of the way through before having to post. Day 17:

Day 18. Gave myself one hour to draw a bug from a photograph. With 7 more (hours, not bugs), I think I could have started adding shades and textures, but instead all I got finished was just a general outline. I'll get you next time, bug!

Not sure whether to laugh or groan there, Bumble, haha.

How about this: Hahooaaannnnn...

That onomatopeia kinda sums up my day too, heh. I started off sooper-pumped to make something awesome and then... time somehow flew by and I ended up having to rush some doodles.

Tomorrow - awesomeness.

Today - Day 19.
FebCog19.jpg

#46

CogNoman

Day 20. Came up with a few of these weird word-things today. They're odd, I dunno - just connecting words in clumsy ways.
This one peripherally involved boobs, so figured I'd throw it up here to make up for Bianno's withdrawal from Feb, heh-

FebCog20.gif

...okay, so yeah, maybe Bianno's paintings are a little more appealing. Ah well - back in a bit -

#47

Jiarn

Your imagination baffles and entertains me CogNorman.... Don't ever stop.

#48

CogNoman

Thankie Jiarn - I was kinda unsure how that one would be received, heh.
I guess I could also mention that my alias is actually "CogNoman" (without the "r"), but many people spell/pronounce it "CogNorman" (including my friends) so I usually don't say anything when I see it spelled that way, heh. And if I'm to be honest, over the years, I've repeatedly debated with myself whether or not to actually change my alias to "CogNorman" because of that. I think it might be the smart thing to do because it's easier for the human eye to read... and it does have a kind of nice, "quirky children's author" feel to it. Hmm. I'll consider it a bit more, but I'm certainly leaning to it. So thank you again, J! You might have helped me out more than you know, haha.

In the meantime, though - posting this unfinished thing now to beat my daily self-imposed deadline:
FebCog21.gif

Will be back in a few hours with it finished, ideally-

#49

Jiarn

deepens!
I really can't believe I didn't notice the lack of "R" either, I really liked the sound of "CogNorman" though, it does have that kind of "ring" to it.
I'm kind of surprised that Fen dropped out of the contest thingy that she herself started. She has a really unique style too and was enjoying her entries, but I'm going to admit, I've really grown attached to seeing your daily posts and am going to miss them in March.

#50

CogNoman

Haha, thanks very much again, Jiarn! I gotta admit, you're making me consider adopting the "r" more and more. Hrm. Okay, I'll start considering it for really realz, heh-
As for Fen...yeah, I'm not quite sure what's happening there, heh. I chatted with Fen briefly a few days ago on Skype and Fen sounded pumped for February - so I don't think it's a lack of interest that's causing the absence. So I dunno - I guess we'll see! I hope Fen comes back too. You hear that, Fen?! We miss you!!!!!

Heh, and here's the finished comic from Day 21 (above). In hindsight, I shoulda made it less cluttered and cut down on the text because it's kinda confusing to follow what's happening, and since the panels are so compressed/small, it's hard to see the character's actions - but oh well, live and learn! The NEXT one will be more clear, hopefully, heh-

FebCog21finished.jpg

#51

fade

fade

Huh. I always read it Norman, too. I think it's partly because most fonts produce almost a ligature between rn or rm anyway, so your brain kind of fills in the more common name.

Superb detail on the drawing.

Gusto

Ha!

#53

CogNoman

Gusto: Heh heh-
Fade: Yeah - I actually just recently (3 days ago-ish) saw a comment under a YouTube video saying "I'm watching pom now. Thumbs up if you read that wrong." And I initially read the comment wrong myself, heh. So yeah - it could be a common font issue....Hmmmmm...leaning more and more now, haha.

Hrm.
But yes. Tonight was a quick one: Drawing a beetle in Photoshop by splotching a big black blob in Photoshop and then quickly picking away at it with a white paintbrush. A fairly quick way of working, it turns out - so quick, I threw in a bear too, heh.

Really enjoying your work, by the way. :)

Bumble the Boy Wonder

Bumble the Boy Wonder

That beetle looks like I'd see him stenciled on a brick building downtown.

That comment is neither positive, nor negative. Do not let your emotions be swayed in either direction.

...This comment is positive:

I always read it as CogNoman, because I thought it was a crazy cool name

#56

CogNoman

Drifter: Ding! That was one of the reasons I picked the name, heh. The others being that it bears a vague resemblance to my actual name ("Conor" - plus the first initial of my last name "G", hence if the letters are re-arranged: "Cono G Man".... which is another reason why "CogNorman" would be a good name, because it would anagram to "Conor G Man" - which would make more sense). The other reason I picked the name was that I was under the impression at the time that "cogno" was Latin for "thinking", so it could be read as "thinking-man", yuk yuk. And since then, I've started infusing the name with other meanings for the heck of it (one being "Cog? No man!", like, as a statement of personal freedom, heh heh - although that one's kinda stretching things), but those were the original intentions.

Bumble: Haha, no worries - After years of writing sarcastic good-hearted jokes to friends in e-mails, and then having them reply defensively because they thought I might have insulted them, I make a fully-aware conscious point never to read any comment on the internet as either positive or negative because of the fact that it's nigh-impossible to perceive subtleties/tones (such as sarcasm). Which is why we have emoticons, I guess. And I'm also just fairly easygoing anyway. And besides, you literally never know where somebody is coming from - as in, maybe a person talks in an aggressive manner as a way of being friendly. It's impossible to read things just by looking at typography alone - which is why it bugs me when I see people (including myself) getting bugged by comments they read on the internet, heh (like YouTube comments). You never really know what the intention behind the words was - even when you think you do - and even when people explicitly SAY what their intentions are, heh.
But besides that, I literally NEVER EVER EVER perceive any comment on a drawing I did as negative. EVER EVER EVER. Even if somebody said "That looks like ass and you deserve to die for making it", or something, heh, I read that as a positive comment. And I'm 100% serious. My best art-friends are the ones who tell me when something sucks. Honesty is a hard trait to find among nice people sometimes...which sounds backwards, but I think there might be truth in it. And even when you find honest people, sometimes it's hard to find honest and opinionated people, heh (I'm notoriously unopinionated myself - when it comes to art especially, I literally believe that everything is good in its own way and has its own unique valuable qualities...which isn't really all that helpful when somebody's looking for specific bits of information in order to improve, heh heh). Opinions are gold. Positive opinions, negative opinions, all of them, from anybody no matter who they are or where they're coming from, they're all gold - an opinion is evidence that another human being wanted to help you out by either encouraging you, offering their own personal insight based on their own life experience, or perhaps just venting some rage and thereby enriching your own human experience, heh, who knows. But either way, it shows that they thought about you and put effort in to communicating with you - which is a valuable thing for a human being. That's why it's absolutely foolish to take anybody's comment on your work as negative.
Or maybe I'm just being naive. Possible - but I hope not, heh.

Oh - and thanks for the beetle comment Bumble, haha.

...Oh my crap. Did not mean to type that much. Got carried away blathering.
Almost spent as much time on that comment as I did on the actual drawing below, heh. Yikes-
Day 23. Trying to learn digital painting again-
FebCog23.jpg

Tomorrow: Less typing! Haha-

#57

CogNoman

Yow. So my typing fingers went off the rails yesterday, heh, so for today I thought I'd spend less time typing. How wrong I was, haha.
I had an idea for something I'd been meaning to try since Day 7 (the day that I missed here).

First, a bit of an explanation - I've also been posting my Feb drawings on another forum, and they have a lot of really strange emoticons on their board. So for today, I figured I'd try to make a comic, using only their weird emoticons. But the "trick" was going to be that, when you "squish" your browser window (and thus cause the emoticons at the end of the line to get 'bumped down' to the following line)... it would create another comic, with another story. 2 comics in one.

So anyways, here's what I managed to do with the other forum's emoticons:
FebCog24H.jpg

And when you 'compressed' the screen to bump all the emoticons down, here was the 'secret' vertical comic that was created:
FebCog24V.jpg

So anyways. I tried doing the same thing on Halforums too, heh - but the emoticons here are considerably different, so here was my closest equivalent:

Day 24.

FebCog24HalforumsVersion.png

In the horizontal comic, there are 4 panels. The sad blue guy is being bullied by the angry brown guy in the top left corner in all of them. The pink smiley girl sees the cool guy, walks past the cool guy and goes to the sad blue guy -- who then becomes cool too, because he got the girl, heh.

EDIT: Okay, apparently, there's a limit of only 20 emoticons that can be posted in a single post, heh, so I couldn't show you the actual version made of emoticons (so I replaced it with a picture of what it looked like in my post's preview).

Also, it looks like I can't make a 'vertical' version of the comic here because, in my preview at least, the emoticons didn't get 'bumped down' (they just stayed on the same line and went off-screen). But if there WAS a vertical version of the comic, haha, it would probably read like this:
There would be 4 panels. In the first panel, there are 3 sad, lonely guys and one cool guy (who has the pink girl as a girlfriend). In the second panel, I guess...the pink girl starts to leave and then all 4 of the guys get angry. Then in the 3rd panel, all 4 of the guys, now all wearing sunglasses and trying to be cool, chase after the girl to get her back. In the 4th panel, it would be the girl all alone (meaning she ran away from all the desperate cool guys, heh).

It was the closest I could get to an equivalent, haha.
Whew!
OKAY. TOMORROW = Less typing for sure.

...hopefully this post makes sense...

I don't have a clue as to what is going on, I'm just happy that one of our artists managed to do something everyday. -grin-

CogNoman, I agree on the criticism discussion up to a point. I like having my "art" slaughtered, as long as it's useful. I can't really qualify "useful" either, because you're right: in some forums, "it sucks" is enough. In others, it's not. I do miss the very constructive criticisms of the Tavern. I don't always feel comfortable doing it. Especially to a superior artist. Not that the critic's skills should matter. I always disliked the comment, "What, you think you could do better?" Well, no, but I know that's terrible. And I might even be able to tell you why.

All that being said, I am enjoying your inkblocking stuff. Your 55 min digital painting attempt is very much reminiscent of the absent Fennewalde!

Haha, thanks Jiarn.
Fade: I don't really know what got in to me with the rant above. But yes, I agree, criticism is good and it doesn't matter who it's from. In years past, when I've showed say, comics I've drawn, to my Mom, she had trouble making sense of them/reading them. True, she's not a "comic fan" (and to a comic reader, the comics would have been quite easy to follow), but the fact that she was having trouble means that everybody else like her - which would be a ton of people - would also think like her and have the same issues. So yes, criticism from all sources/anybody is great, no matter who they are, because the way that that one person thinks is likely indicative of how a ton of other people on Earth would think too in this same situation - because I guess when it comes to issues, there's only so many different opinions on things that people can have before we start duplicating one another's thoughts, having the same opinions, etc...

Day 25. Took a "tad" of a "nap" this evening...frantically woke up, remembered how quickly I was able to get the beetle and bear done, so tried the same thing with something more complicated. I could probably get a better/more realistic/more interesting effect if I used some of the more advanced brushes in Photoshop...next time, next time...

Not much really for today, but I still find some parts of it interesting.

So I'm still proud of you...my little Day 26:

FebCog26.jpg

Can you see in the picture: A house with a chimney blowing smoke / an old granny with her yellow tweety bird and depressing brown basset hound / her leery next-door neighbour/ a red car / grass / sky / the unceasing draining black hole that is February constantly sucking images out of me

haha just kidding of course (winky wink)......back to sleeeeepppppp........

One day left. We can make it, we can make it heh....

I swear I got more than this done today, but it isn't in a scannable state, so here's a little something that I shall explain tomorrow, heh -

See you in a few!
(A few hours...not days)
(because there's only one day left)
(whoa)

Go Go Go! You can do it!

Doodle compilation for the last day!

CogNoman

Haha, thanks again Jiarn - I was kinda petering out towards the end.

But yes - Day 28: My plan was to get a drawing of everybody's avatars done for the last day but as I think I might have mentioned before, I've been posting my February drawings on another forum too and I started with their avatar picture first - and I literally JUUUUST got that picture finished right now. So please forgive me as I post that image in place of the impending Halforums one. I shall aim to make a Halforums image, but I need to pass out right now.

Hopefully this counts as a "doodle compilation" Jiarn, heh -
FebCog28.gif

Whew.

I wish I had some final words, but I guess if I'm coming back, I don't need to say any right now, heh heh. And maybe that's appropriate. Because even though February is done, that doesn't necessarily mean the drawing has to stop. Part of the purpose of this challenge is to help develop a habit of drawing, and even though it nearly broke me a few times (I had to wake myself up, roll out of bed, force myself to draw, then go back to sleep, haha) and I swore a few times that when March came, I would stop drawing and just relax.... now I almost feel "completely free" - and what I want to do with that freedom is: draw.

We'll see what tomorrow morning brings though, heh.

In the meantime, thank you to everybody here at Halforums for not only welcoming Fenn and I, but also for joining in and helping to push us/me and just being all-around positive, nice people. This forum and the people here are great.

Sleep-time now, but I'll try to be back with the drawing I mentioned tomorrow (or soon) -

Thanks again, everybody!

Oh - and one last thing, heh.

You might (or might not) have seen a few of the following throughout the month - it was just something I did for the giggles - but here are the "secret answers" for each day, haha. Some are unfortunately impossible I believe, and some are very easy, but yeah - here they are!

Day 1:

Day 2:

Day 3:

Day 4 - unfortunately, I think this is one of the impossible ones (there's too many other possibilities in the image):

Day 5:

Day 6:

Day 7 - I unfortunately didn't post an image on Day 7. I did manage to make an image out of emoticons on the other site I was posting on, but I ran out of time before I could create an equivalent on Halforums.
Here was the image I made:

...and frankly, this one doesn't need an "answer", heh, because all there is that #7. And if you can't see the #7 there... you really don't stand a chance on seeing any of these.

Day 8:

Day 9:

Day 10:

Day 11:

Day 12:

Day 13:

Day 14:

Added at: 04:33
Added at: 04:41
...Argh.

I can't post the remaining days' answers because I keep bumping in to the problems with the "Maximum 20 images in a post" rule - even though I only have 13 images remaining to post.
For some reason, I can't create a "new" reply either...every new post I make just gets added in to THIS post (the one that you're reading right now), as if it was all one giant post. But a giant post with too many images, heh.

So I'll just wait for now, heh...
The second half of the answers will come eventually-

Now: sleep

Your attention to detail and now hidden messages? Seriously, your brain should be studied.

That was a compliment btw. -wink-

Heh heh heh, thanks everybody. It was certainly a pleasure. I feel a tad silly resurrecting this thread one more time, but I still have a fewwww more of the "answer" pics to post, plus what I initially intended as my Day 28 pic, heh heh. Here we go, for oooooooone more round:

Day 15:

Day 16:

Day 17:

Day 18:

Day 19:

Day 20:

Day 21:

Day 22:

Day 23:

Day 24:

Day 25:

Day 26:

Day 27 - and this one was based on an idea I got from Fennewalde early in Feb, so I threw it in near the very end, heh.

And let's consider this my actual Day 28 picture, heh:

Thank you, everybody!
