I have to agree. Regardless how much I despise (is that higher than loathe?) them for their belief and such, they are entitle to their belief as much I am entitle to believe in mine.

While I hope the perpetrators are caught and arrested, I'm not going to shed a tear for those people having their tires slashed. And I love that people in town refused to help them. You reap what you sow.

Yeah, but you're not an attention-whoring fuckbucket about yours.
Can't say I'm terribly choked up over the matter, myself.

Not on topic topic, but funny and dealing with Westboro crazies. A little Twitter spat one of them had with Kevin Smith over his new horror flick that is (hopefully) loosely based on good old Reverend Fred.
Heheh so am I, but I worry about it for the sake of the kids who are being brainwashed. I've witnessed he adults use that kind of (pretty much justified) behavior to tell their children, "See? Everyone else is evil."

Still... Heh.
They're pretty much indoctrinated to extreme lengths anyways. Justifying this instance with "people are evil" to their children is simply adding another dime to their piggy bank of moral atrocities.
We do our best not to give these people any kind of ammunition, however, I believe that people who go to these incredible lengths of self delusion will have little difficulty in inventing new transgressions against them, imaginary or not.

Yeah, that's true. Believe me, I got a grin out of this.

Good to know CG. Since I was the one who slashed their tires.

This. I cannot condone the action taken, but I approve of people exercising their right to refuse service. *smiles*
Hey OC, what would be the penalty for that sort of thing in your jurisdiction?
I hope it's a forced march of disgust down main street surrounded by the local firemen, then forced to eat the Filet Mignon of shame while receiving the blowjob of Castigation from the gorgeous women of rebuke.

This was a fucking stupid thing to do. Even if they don't catch who did it they are going to sue the city and make a shit-ton of money. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Wait you can sue the city if a private citizen commits a crime against you?
No you can't, and the Police can't be held accountable for the actions of a criminal ether, unless they can prove that the Police LET it happen by intent. The WBC could try to make that case but without an eye witness they'd be laughed out of court.
I suspect that the only real outcome of this ordeal is that the WBC will start paying for private security at their events. Expect to see a headline about some guy from Xii cracking open a counter-protester's head REAL SOON.

The police have no duty to protect you or your property. To rule against the city would be to overrule precedence set down by the supreme court. Can't look up the exact ruling right now but precedence would go strongly against them in this case.

Normally that would be true, but they have sued cities in the past as the police knew that they were going to be there and failed to protect them while they were under a reasonable amount of danger. I know they used this argument when the dipshit from here in Omaha maced them. Well, he TRIED to mace them. He actually maced counter-protesters because he didn't take that pesky wind into account.

Yeah, but did they WIN those cases?

Pending.

Also, cities are so strapped for cash, will they just settle or fight it?

I still hold out hope that one day a meteor will land directly on the Westboro compound while they are all there and wipe them out in a spectacular impact...
A man can dream right?
