What kind of car do you drive?

#1

Captain Phil

I was looking and i noticed we had a lack of an auto board so i figured i would stick this in general

A vehicle can say a lot about a person

so here's my car a 1989 Toyota Supra. Top speed 156mph MPG about 17 if I'm lucky the cars manufacture date is one month after i was born (June 88)

I bought my very first new vehicle last year. 2008 Hyunai Accent. I got it mostly for the great gas mileage.

Nissan Almera. Pretty much this:

This is my car (2002 Ford Focus SVT with a standard transmission yay!)

and this is the bumper sticker that I had on it (until it faded into obscurity) that got me quite a few comments!

I drive a late 90s Jeep Grand Cherokee Sport. No pictures, since I'm not that proud of it :( It's just a shitty lil' SUV.

My car before it, my first car, was a 1985 El Camino. That thing was fucking AWESOME. I loved that car so much. I'm so sad that it broke beyond all repair :(

Got myself a 2002 Ford Focus. Numerous people in my family work for Ford and are part of the UAW (which I loathe), but it got me the best discount possible back in the day when you needed family working at Ford to get it. No bumper stickers, as they're just for whiny liberals, and because of the low-ride I absolutely HATE SUVs and trucks because I can't see the road around their giant monstrous frames. So if you drive one of them, I hate you. :D The Focus' sitting right somewhere in 97,000 miles right now. Here's a picture of me with her, from my last trip to Pittsburgh:

Did you really change your avatar.... to your car...... ? :bush:

What do I drive?

2004 Dodge Neon. Why? Cause my GF's parents gave it to us for free as a second car for the house.

2004 Saturn Ion. With a bunch of duck tape on the side because of January 1st, 2008's run in drift into a ditch. I blame the snow plow. Or the fact that I decided to drive down the country road.

Either way, my car is made out of plastic.

It's a little old and makes lot of noise but it's reliable and warm in the winter.

OH! Car, I totally read that wrong.

My daily commuter is a 2009 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited

I'll be buying my wife this 2006 Mini Cooper S for her commuter in the next couple weeks:

When we did a "Let's go see Mt Rushmore" trip, my wife and I took the top off and just cruised - it was fantastic. I ended up sunburnt to a crisp, but it was so worth it. It was great being able to cruise through Yellowstone and just slow down and then stand up and take pictures of bison/wildlife/whatnot.

A 1991 Honda Nightwing 750. Greatest bike ever. Too bad Honda stopped making it. That's why I have this old one. Highly customized. Custom seats, custom flat black paint, etc.

Usually, I ride my Trek 820 to work, which is a dark green version of this:

I just want to say that you had a sweet ride and I'm insanely jealous. And saddened to hear of its demise.

Lally

okay so. here's something crazy.

I'm kind of freaking out right now.

I went to Google to find a picture of my type of car.

I found a picture of my car.

MY ACTUAL CAR.

I didn't put it there.

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:1996-98_Pontiac_Grand_Am.jpg

Someone is stalking me and putting me on Wikipedia. [kidding, I don't actually think I'm being stalked]

Should I be freaked out about this?

#20

Hahahahaha, that is fucking crazy!

You're famous!

-------

I can only imagine the thought processes there.

"Doo dee doo dooooo, walkin' on my wayyy- oh SNAP! Is that a '96-'98 Grand Am?? Fuck, the wikipedia entry doesn't have one of those! I--- I gotta get this!"

#21

Lally

So I shouldn't be freaked out? hahaha.

Here's how MY thought process went:

1. Okay I'm just going to Google 1996 Pontiac Grand Am...
2. Oh look, there's a red one! ^_^
3. Oh dang, it even has Maryl --
4. [sees silver scratch on the front corner] THAT'S JEAN-CLAUDE!
5. [shakes boyfriend awake] OMGOMGOMG IGOOGLEDMYCARANDFOUNDMYCAR.
6. Boyfriend: "are you sure that's your car?"
7. Me: "Maryland plates, taken in College Park, THAT'S MY PARKING PERMIT, THAT'S MY STICKER ON THE BACK WINDOW, THAT'S MY SCRATCH, THAT'S MY CAR."
8. Boyfriend: "dang, someone's stalking you."
9. [continue freaking out]

Should I be freaked out about this?
Nah, this person seems harmless http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:IFCAR , just some wikipedia nerd who goes around taking shot of cars for articles that need them.

Not to say that couldn't just be a front for something more nefarious, mind you.

#23

Lally

Yeah, I calmed down for a minute and looked up the dude's profile, after a photographer friend of mine asked if it was a picture she took of my car. It's kinda funny ^_^;

My car says, "You are a person who wants to go from one place to another". It's a Camry. Sweeeet.

Kitty Sinatra

My car says way too much and often at the most inappropriate time. Like, this one time I cheated on my wife the car ratted me out.

I never should've bought KITT.

'94 Ford Taurus with the passenger side stove in, 145k miles. Because it's the only car we have left after donating my '95 Contour (with 228k miles) in June of '08.

A new(er) car is a high priority for this family in '10.

1997 Ford Escort, not a picture of my actual car. Mine looks shittier, the clear coat is pealing off on my hood :(

Before that I had a 2000 Chevy Metro.

Dream cars would be 1969 Camaro black with the two white stripes on the hood or 1967 Impala black.

2005 Chevy Cobalt LS. I really like it. It's sporty but gets great gas MPG, has a kickass premium sound system with a sub in the trunk, and even has a sunroof. It's nowhere near as cool as my old '96 red Thunderbird with a V8 engine, but a girl's gotta drive what she can afford.

90% of the time I drive a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited (heated leather seats + sunroof), but if the wife takes it to work, I've got a 2007 Dodge Caravan (mostly used for transporting my almost 15 month old).

- PT Cruiser
- Caravan

#41

rabbitgod

I ride a Genuine Buddy 125. It's a scooter, it's cute. I'll see if I can get a pic of it.

I love it for the gas mileage, upwards of 100+ mpg. And it's great for zipping around town and parking where ever.

I drove a 97 Nissan Sentra untill someone stole it.

My car's a gray Honda Civic from, I think, 1999. It's got one of those loud, annoying mufflers (bought it used) and a shroom sticker on the back windshield. It's old and dry and easy to peel off now, but I kind of want to keep it. 'Makes it easier to find in a parking lot. When I graduate, I hope to have enough money to replace it. She's gettin kinda tired.

#43

Captain Phil

there's something about driving on the open road with the windows down, hauling ass and your good friend siting beside you and you hope to hell you get to vegas before the acid kicks in

I have no license, and I can't skate, ride a bike or anything, so I basically move around with either this:

or these:

EDIT: Ok, ok, this thread is about cars and I didn't post any... This is the car I most usually ride, almost weekly when my best friend (Not Tegid but the one that isn't on this boards) takes us to places for dinner or whatever.
It's a grey Honda Civic.
(this is the only picture of the actual car I could find right now... )

Hey! The one on the right is my VW Golf! :D

Yeah, when I drive a car it's that Golf, but I usually catch the subway or the train, and ride a Dahon Boardwalk folding bike (actually I got a new one yesterday, a Dahon Mu, from a friend who doens't want it any more cause it's broken. pussy!)
