What's the Next Valve game to get the Mac release?

So today is Wednesday, which means another Valve title should be coming out for the Mac today. Anyone want to guess what it will be? My guess is either Team Fortress 2 or Half-Life Source. I'd imagine Valve will get their Source games out before they port the HL engine.

I'm guessing it'll be the L4D games since that seems to be Valve's primary franchise right now.

I wonder if Valve will time the Mac release of TF2 to match up with the release of the engineer update.

TF2 has had (mac coming soon) added to its title ever since the Orange Box got released, so I voted that. Next I think will be L4D2.

No release yet though :(

Engineer update? It's my fav class, what are they doing to it? :)[/QUOTE]

No one knows specifics yet, but it'll be getting new hats, new weapons, and new constructables. We DO know that they aren't getting something that repairs and resupplies their buildings though, as they tested that and found that it basically made your teammates hate you for not healing them instead. There is also some leaked info from testing about something called the PDQ (Pretty Darn Quick) which lets you build your machines faster but prevents you from upgrading them, but there is no word one way or the other that it's been finalized.

Hmm, PDQ would be interesting for ninja Engineers, I think. Sneak somewhere, throw up a level 1 sentry, wait for it to get destroyed, sneak somewhere else and repeat.

Maybe this time they'll get achievements too? I noticed they're like the only class that hasn't got any specific class achievements.
Yeah, there will be achievements as part of the update. That's what's happened for all the other classes at this point, Engineers are the last. They got a mini-update that gave the ability to upgrade dispensers and teleporters, but not a big event like the other classes did.

Sweet! What do I win ? :)
Your choice, either a No-Prize* or a tip of the Halto Hat**.

Some speculation on the Engineer update, from the webcomic Nerf Now.

That's funny.

That reminds me though.. Is there any word on when we might be getting female models for the TF2 classes? :p
That would be SWEEETTTT!!!!!

Neat :) I never really got into Team Fortress 2, but a colleague of mine recently purchased it and I suppose a game is more fun when you play it with folks you know. So I'll be giving this game another try. It's not as if I have many other games to play on the Mac as it is.

From what I've seen so far tho', the game still seems to be the standard deathmatch style that I dislike. Run in, kill-kill-get-killed-rinse-repeat. There's some more stuff due to Engineers, Medics and Spies, I suppose, but it's way too chaotic for me. Is there more to the game than that?

Definitely more to it than deathmatch.

For one thing, there's no official deathmatch game mode (though I suppose the Arena game mode comes close). Each game mode has an objective, such as capturing a flag, or claiming and/or holding territory. Also, as the game's title might suggest, teamwork is quite important; every class has its' strengths, weaknesses, and ideal role. A well balanced team with good teamwork will generally achieve map objectives more easily.

The game can definitely get chaotic, such as when there are lots of players (16 vs 16 can be utter pandemonium). But even then there's an order to the chaos. With fewer players, such as 6 vs 6 or 8 vs 8, serious strategy and tactics come into play.

But TF2 ALREADY has a female playable character...

Team Fortress 2 does seem to be a "cannon fodder" but the whole point is to achieve the objective. Sure you will die... a lot... and some more... and some more BUT if you are good, you will hardly get killed depending on the class you play.

Shego is evil. She hardly gets killed as a sniper cause she knows what she is doing. I died every 3 minutes as a sniper cause I suck ass but learning ;)

Engineer is my forte but I gotta expand my playing skills.

She can also play a mean Heavy or Demoman. Both of the times I got to seriously play with her, I'd support her with my Kritzkrieg and she'd get tons of kills. Easily some of my best nights in TF2.
