What's the word ScytheRexx?

I heard rumors that patch 4.0 is out either next week or the week after? Is this true? Cause if it is, I'm gearing up and playing WoW again.

The first part of the patch just hit the background downloader. Lots of changes to the class balance and such that's supposed to come with it, too. Likely still a few weeks out, at least.

The reclamation efforts for Gnomeregan and the Isles are active right now, though - I seem to remember you wanting to play through that? Not sure how long they're going to be up for.

If they're sticking to form (which they might not be), 4.01 will go live one week before Cata streets, and there's still no drop date for that, though it's probably soon-ish.

There's two pre-Cata patches. One's the upcoming class changes which I'd wager will be live in the next two weeks, and then the one that'll patch in the world map changes and such, which is likely going to be just before release.

I've already re-upped my account and am leveling my Beast Mastery pets. :awesome:

Everyone pretty much answered.

The next patch will most likely hit next week (not this coming Tuesday but the next), and it will bring all the mechanic changes like the removal of weapon skills, the talent revamp, and the new gear point system. It's going through extensive testing, so I don't see it happening this upcoming week, more so with Brewfest starting tomorrow. I see it really possible for either next week or the one after. I may be wrong though, I know they are pushing hard for a 2010 release.

Later on another patch, 4.03 will come out right before Cataclsym, and it will start the real events leading to the expansion, plus all the changes to the geography. It looks intense, with cultists breaking into cities, elemental invasions, meeting between the greatest shamans. Going to be fun to experience, though I don't think it will reach the level of the Zombie Apocalypse that lead into WOTLK.

A few things of note that just were revealed today for Worgen, in case anyone is interested. Worgen are officially not getting a regular mount, and instead are going to have Running Wild, a skill that allows them to run at mount speeds. They are making a new animation for it where the Worgen will bound on all four limbs, similar to how the existing old school Worgen model runs. Not sure how well that will go over.

Worgen females got a new model, and look much more feral and less "furry" friendly. At least they kept the hair models, unlike the male Worgen, which lost all his during his model revamp.

I can see the Achievement whores Ally side getting uppity over less mounts to collect, but I think it fits the race well and hopefully it'll look awesome.

I'm not sure I like the huge, crazy-eyed look of the Female Worgens. The eyes feel too large for the smaller face.

What about flying mounts for Worgen?

Flying wild!

They'll use the same ones as anyone else, I assume? There haven't ever been race-specific flyers.

I really hope my 10 man can get the Lich King down tonight. I don't know how fast I'll catch on to the class change that's in-store for hunters. i.e. starting over from scratch in play-style.

I hear BM right now is ridiculously good, so I plan to give it a try once the patch hits.

Also, they got Plants Vs Zombies in my WoW.

I am so excited for the new Hunter trees it's almost sad. BM has been the red-headed stepchild for so long now when it had so much potential. I can't wait to bring my Corehound back out. :awesome:

To clarify, Gnomeregan is seriously active right now? Gah. This is a really bad time for me to log in again. I'm not even really in the mood to play, but I really want to participate in that. How long will it be active for?

Right now it is just some fighting going on at the gates and a bunch of easy-A quests.

I hope it will get more serious later.

Downloading *A* patch right now. Taking forever considering it's 3.97 GB and I'm also downloading Civ V.

Is this a different patch from what was on the downloader last night?

I doubt it. I didn't get anything from the downloader last night.

It's part two of the new patch. They are basically trying to get all the main art resources loaded now before the PTR test finishes all the mechanic adjustments. That way once they are ready to deploy it will (hopefully) be as painless as possible.

Remember that with the new streaming technology, on patch day you should be able to play as soon as the servers come up, even if you don't have all the patches downloaded.

Just tried to play again yesterday. Just don't give a shit about badge farming anymore. Raiding is still cool, but the daily grind just sucks.

Can't wait for Cata because I can't wait to level a bunch of toons in the new zones, plus the new races and class combos.

Well, the good news is that once patch 4.0.1 hits, you will never have to farm badges again.

The bad news is that you'll be farming for Justice/Honor/Valor points instead.

I found it bothered me I was behind the gear curve, but not so much as to convince me to get on badge farming again. Mainly waiting for the talent patch before I get deep into it again.

Okay, here's my big question that will determine whether I bother coming back: will there be any cool gadget rewards (similar to those spinning clockwork shields) that are ACTUALLY FOR WARRIORS? I mean geeze, it seems like every single gadget weapon that comes out seems like its meant for paladins or shamans for some reason. Which is downright weird.

Shannow

Well, I want to make a hunter alt to play throguh cata with as a worgen..suppose I should get some gear ready for it now whilst I can.

Technically the Peacekeeper's Blade could be used by most tanking classes, including Warriors, and had a very gnomish gadget look to it. If you mean DPS style gear, really the Re-purposed Lava Dredger was the only one close and it is designed more for Druids (though while leveling really it would work fine, though not optimal compared to the Reaper). I actually collected Peacekeeper Blades on my rogue just because of the hilarious look of duel-wielding them.

If you are talking more engineer-style items, we don't have much information on them. We know they are going to become the official ranged weapon profession though, which means that only helps warriors in a stat-stick type of way with guns, bows, or crossbows that will most likely have a gadget feel. We have the new goggles too.

R

Raemon777

The main thing I've always wanted is a spinny gear shield that's actually good. Peacekeepers' blade is kinda cool, not sure if it's quite what I'm looking for. (An actual chainsword would be pretty cool). I was hoping with gnomeregan taking more of a front seat there'd be some appropriate quest rewards.

I rarely get to the final instances, nor high end PVP stuff. I do see lots of cool weapons there though.

#27

ScytheRexx

ScytheRexx

Well we will have to see what items in the end come out, but they usually don't itemize items with a gadget look unless they are part of engineering, or are tied to one of the more technical races like Gnomes or Goblins. I would love to see more tech based items, but I don't want them all over the place since they kind of lose the charm if they are to common.

CynicismKills

The Gnomeregan stuff is all low-level, so you won't get much there unless it's going to be for an RP set. A lot of Cata items don't have the final model on them yet so it's hard to say what everything's going to look like, but it feels more like WotLK items than BC from the stuff that's been data-mined. The new Gnome 1-5 zone is going to be right outside the city, focusing on pushing further into it.

Shannow, starting a Hunter in Cata (or with the next patch) is going to be a lot easier than it used to be. You'll now start with a pet from level 1 as opposed to the quest at level 10, plus they're tossing ammo out the window and folding the damage bonus it gave into weapons.

As for me, I just found out Pummel will be Battle and Berzerker Stance! That's amazing news for Warriors.
