Anderson Cooper (World's Handsomest Newscaster) does very good, emotional pieces when he does field pieces. His reporting from Bosnia, and Hurricane Katrina was excellent.
I also wouldn't agree that today's objectivity is all bad, but I understand what you're saying. It's very cool to see these sorts of things. I actually have some old famous newscasts saved. I really like this stuff.

I know what you mean. All we have now are douchebags like Geraldo and those ditzy blondes. News was better before they had all those flashy graphics and sound bites.

Thank you for posting that. Every once in a while, I should be exposed to some Murrow, as I try to model my writing on his style. You'll note: short sentences, simple vocabulary, and few adverbs. Almost all the color in the piece comes from the very precise choice of verbs and nouns.
