Woot! 1950's Coca-cola machine, acquired!

Got this from my parents as they were cleaning out one of their storage spaces to convert to an office. My step father used to work for the local coke distributer throughout the 70s and 80s...he has had this thing for 30 years. used to have it hooked up in the living room when I was growing up.

A classic 50s (I believe its a 53 or 56) vendo 81 machine. All original parts, and works like a dream! Best part is, it fits beer bottles perfect! (I remember my older brother's high school graduation years and years ago, they had it filled with beer for family members). I have been waiting to get this thing since I was a small child. Finally glad I got it. No need to even restore it, which is great (since I have neither the funds nor time to do so). Plug it in when I want to fill it and use ot when guests are over, and BAM, instant cold beer refreshment in the living room, and a neat way to get it!

I am freaking stoked I got it.

Sorry for the shitty pic.

I just love the condition that my parents kept it in all these years. Tiny bits of rust and what not from age, but just in great great shape. Like I said, I have been waiting for this for years and years. My younger brother wanted to fight me for it, but he now works for pepsi as a DM, so he cant really take it, so it defaulted to me without us having to get into a brawl.

Hmm, looking at the picture, I am going to have to go fix that rug/mat I put under it.

Do you have to toss in a dime to get your drink?

If so, that'd be hilarious when you have guests around. "Whaddya mean I have to pay ten cents?"

Yes, you do. And I have the original key for it so I can open it to get change out or keep it open if folks want to take a dime back (which I wont). "Dime? Sure....that'll be a buck"

That so rocks! Some family history...worth way more than the collector's money.

There's one for sale for I think $600 or so in a place not too far from me. Had I the space or need I'd have gotten it.

Looks like you have a V-81A version, made sometime between 1955-58. (http://www.grandamericajukebox.com/page12.htm, bottom of page)

Completely and totally awesome.

Had a buddy of mine turn something like this into a Keg-a-rator in College.
