1st rule: Spoiler it!

What were your favorite fictional endings? It can be a book, a series, a movie, whatever.

Here are three that come to mind
1) The Prydain Chronicles
Taran shoulders the responsibilities of the High King, and all magic leaves Prydain forever. It's very bittersweet. Along the same notes, the ending of The Black Cauldron still chokes me up a little.

2) Kavalier and Clay
This is probably one of my favorite endings. I read the last chapter like 5 times. Clay finally gets to live his own life after shedding the shadow of Kavalier, which he was living under even when Kavalier was gone for years. There was a supreme sadness about it, but it was also triumphant. Clay's lover long ago died, but he's finally setting out into his own life. Beautiful.

3) The Graveyard Book
Bod loses his magic, and can no longer see his family, but he moves into the real world with a new family. Bittersweet again. I detect a pattern here.

In general, I tend to get a little upset at the end of a good book. Where's the rest of this world? It can't end here! There must be more to it. Can't I stay a little longer?

Titus Andronicus: deaths, murder, rape, torture and cannibalism. It's a feel good ending to a rather nasty play.
