I just won the MTG Salvation forum's September art contest. The challenge was to design a planeswalker as a superhero.



Granted, I was the only one to enter this month...

My colorblind ass is experimenting with digital painting.

This one took longer, and [user]Quotemander Prime[/user] might like it.

Older, but not a great pic as it was just too big to scan. More stippling.

God, doing stippling fucking sucks. Looks great, though.

Apparently, Imgur is much kinder and doesn't resize.

From what I've heard, Imgur has gotten pretty aggressive with its image compression (unless you have a Pro account). Before, it only compressed images over 1 MB, but it seems it now compresses pretty much everything by default except for images with transparency. I still like it a lot, but it's something to keep in mind.

So these Pokemon drawings kinda turned into something. I shared them over at Smogon, the big competitive Pokemon forum, and about two days later I was invited to be a contributing artist for their digital magazine. No pay, as it's all volunteer, but it might be fun, so what the hell.

Here's the first piece I'm contributing.

Working on Zaptronics. Been a while since I updated my DED - here's what I've been up to.

Trying stuff with shading.

I am noticing a certain preference for monsters of the pocket variety...

Well, I do art for Smogon, a popular competitive Pokemon website, so that's why you're seeing so much of that.

So I'm trying a few different things with digital painting. I'm not crazy about it, but this is an early run at it for my colorblind ass.

And yeah, after Team Plasma, Team Flare is completely unsympathetic. Except they look dope as hell in those suits.

Upcoming Smog piece.

Started doodling a couple characters in a slightly different style, and...I just kept experimenting.

An idea I've been kicking around, goes with the two character designs above. Might do more with this later.

For a moment, I thought that was Meat.

Guess who finally figured out cel shading on his iPad?

More cel-shading. It's actually a completely new take on a character I created in high school. I'm planning on a few more redesigns, but after this one, I am seriously tempted to start a (rarely updating) fantasy side comic.
