Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

I've never had a dog I could trust not to run off if let out in the front yard off a leash.
Ironically if I took them for a walk somewhere unfamiliar, they might go exploring a little bit but never leave my sight and always came when summoned (except if they saw another dog, then all bets were off).

I remember when I was a kid, my dad had just got a dog from the shelter, and took him to Petsmart on the way home to get dog stuff, and the automatic doors rumbled open like the stone gates of hell and scared the shit out of the dog, who bolted, yanking the leash out of my dad's hands, and the sucker was gone. He drove around looking for the dog but couldn't find it. Found him next day back at the shelter. Got him home without incident after that. Named him Mikhail (Mickey for short) after the colored splotch on his forehead, and he was a really good dog after that.
All my previous dogs had good, hard recalls... this one is just a little dumber/stubborn...

Literally the one that I put down last year would escape from the fence, just to lay out in the front yard.

Interesting. All of the dogs our family owned trained really quickly to stay near our property. The current two will calmly lay on the front porch, and might venture off the lawn to go visit the neighbours if they're outside, but they come right back. Our dog previous to these two was probably the most prone to venturing away investigating something of interest, but he always came when called. He'd also sometimes run a few doors down to where a different neighbour had their dog, and they'd play together.

I guess we've just been lucky; I think every dog owner I know has at least one story about runaway dogs or lost dogs but we've never gone through that, thankfully.[DOUBLEPOST=1376941010,1376940900][/DOUBLEPOST]

hehe! Our old border collie would do that. He'd get out from the back, just to lay on the porch. Usually he'd curl up underneath my window, and when he laid down, he didn't gently lower himself, he would just flop to the ground, so I'd be sitting in my bedroom, reading or studying or whatever and then right against the wall I'd hear WHUMP.

I don't mention this really often, but I write. Quite a lot. And I write everything long hand in nearly a dozen compostions notebooks.

My whine you may ask? My favorite writing pen has run out of ink! UGH...I'm so sad about this! I'm even more sad because it was some company pen, so I don't know if I can get another one. But seriously, it was the best pen! The ink flow was perfect and was so smooth. It played to the fact that I write in cursive. And and...ugh...I has a sad.
Post a pic, maybe someone can recognize the make and model.

Get yourself a quality fountain pen. They're totally worth the money if you enjoy actually putting pen to paper.

I agree with this, but a quality one, and good ink, are expensive. And if you're writing a lot of stuff, every day, it can be pricey. Plus, you usually want to also buy better quality paper, so the ink doesn't soak or bleed, etc.

I think I may actually do this! Thanks for the idea and suggestions!

If my book is ever finished and actually published, I want to hand write a copy of it because I'm a crazy person. And imagining it being written with a beautiful fountain pen and some crisp paper makes my heart beat fast.

Thanks guys!

Alright, then one extra note: do not, I don't care how convincing they are, do not let anyone tell you that cotton-based paper is good for fountain pens. It is the opposite of good. it is HORRIBLE. The ink just soaks through, and spreads, everything looks sloppy... Agh, I still curse the day I was told it was the perfect paper. It's great for like... normal pens, pencils, etc, and it looks nice (also feels nice! so soft) but it is definitely rubbish for using a fountain pen.

I'm with you. Fine point is the best (unless you go too long and it dries out). Bic Cristals were some of the best for that, but the ink would tend to blob up and need to be wiped occasionally.

I'm opposite, I prefer a wider point to the fine point. Might come from years of having to "press hard to make 3 copies" on forms in the military. I currently use a Uniball Jetstream (has a removable cap, don't really like retractable), think it's a .7 point on it.

This is my current day to day pen, writes rather nicely. Cross Fountain Pen

The HDMI ports on the back of my 4 year old Toshiba TV have packed it in, to the point where I can no longer even consider it to be a "handshake" issue. They started dying several months ago, so I guess I got the most out of it while it lasted. This means I'm now attempting to watch HD cable on an HD TV over coax - which is SD. It's like watching a baseball game for ants.

Rolled the jetski. In the process of trying to remount it in the middle of the lake we rolled it again. Many times. Even though we righted it the correct side each time, it sank lower and lower in the water, and wouldn't start.

It was hilarious, but now I have to pump it out and try to get it back up and running tomorrow before we leave.

In other news, I'm learning a whole lot about jet skis I wouldn't have otherwise learned.

Also attempting to swim back pushing a jetski was amusing. Eventually a nice family on a pontoon boat offered a tow back, jet ski, towable tube, and all.
Err, hug for the rolling and the annoyance of having to deal with crap on vacation, like for the kind family, for learning lots about jetskis you never knew you needed to know, and for still being able (hopefully) to enjoy the wild chaos of trying to get a jetski back to land, along with a tube, when surrounded by a school of little stienies.

Lots of things going on, and I can't manage to keep juggling all of them - even though none of them's serious or bad or whatever.
1. I have to do the laundry to the ironers'. Yes, I know that's very much a FWP, but it's piling up, and the combination of their working hours, my working hours, my GF's working hours, and who needs the car when, mean it's been weeks and it's bloody annoying.
2. The floor of the kitchen needs redoing. I've had someone over, but since my GF keeps flipflopping on yes-or-no the original floor needs to be taken out as well (it's now laminate on tiles, and I want it to be tiles-on-tiles, but possibly removing the older tiles underneath the laminate would be better....but more expensive....but....etc)
3. Dishwasher - to put the new floor underneath or not? And where to put it? We've been 'round the block too often already - a big one under the gas stove, a small one under the stove, a big one where the freezer is with the freezer moved to the living room, a small one on the work table, none of the above....And the GF won't accept my opinions. That is, I say "yes, a big one will fit", and she insists on having her father, my father, the handyman, the floor tiler and the plumber all have a look as well - and when one says "yes, it works" she suddenly believes it'll work. When the second one says "It's going to be difficult", suddenly it's impossible and should take a small one. And so on. I said right from the start that a big one is possible but more burdensome to install - but it's been weeeeeeeeeks of her changing her mind. Gah!
4. GF smashed a mirror off our new car driving out of the garage. It's a pretty small garage and a pretty wide car; I've touched the sides ones already myself. Of course she was in a hurry and not paying attention, of course it could've been avoided - but I don't really care, such things happen. Anyway, we informed our insurance (hey, if I'm paying I'm using it too), who insist on putting the car in a garage so they can send over an expert to take a look and asses the damage. I'm insured with Kia, I own a Kia, and I'm contractually obligated to have it repaired with Kia. There's only one (recognized) Kia garage in this town. I've already been there, they made an offer, and I forwarded it to the insurance. But nooo! I have to leave the car there for a few days (!) and they'll decide how much damage there is and if they pay back the repairs. Errr, I already know the price. If you name a lower price, that won't cover the repairs where I have to have them done. By your own company. Dipshits. Also, I can't miss the car for a few days, but that very same insurance company won't give me a replacement car since it's only a mirror. I'm in full agreement - I don't need a replacement. I just want my mirror fixed, which takes about half an hour.
5. I'm still trying to put together my new pc. It's going slowly, but so far I haven't crashed or destroyed anything....Yet. Still, the living room is full of pc parts and a pc.
6. I really should get back to job hunting. I've been stuck here for too long, and they're increasing the hours again (I worked 196 in July and it'll be more in september), they refused my leave which I asked for 3 months ago, and I'm not happy there. Plus, all the nights and weekends are still killing my social life.

All of these are minor things but just things I'm constantly thinking about or being reminded about, and none of them can be quickly and easily fixed. Bah!

Stupid stupid whine.

I should never track packages. I saw this morning that my package made it into my city. Plenty of time to get to my apartment...... but it never came. GAH! I'd be better off not knowing and just coming home to a big surprise on Monday. It's kind of important, too. I found some shoes that I couldn't get in the stores here, and my feet have been hurting a bit at work. I've held back on buying better, long-lasting brands for a while. But since it's almost my birthday, I treated myself. I want my shoes! That must be some kind of adult milestone... I'm more excited about my sensible, breathable work shoes than the perfect platform heels I found for my wedding shower.

I'm watching a rom-com on Netflix (The Other End of the Line). I'm sure I've mentioned before that I'm a sucker for a rom-com sometimes. Not often, but one of those when-I'm-in-the-mood things or nothing-else-to-watch things.

But Christ, they make me feel lonely.

I love food but when I'm dieting there's no way in hell I'd watch the Food Network....

The whiniest of whines. A few girls I know have tongue piercings. They fucking revolt me. I find them both hideous and annoying (especially when I can hear the fucking thing clicking on teeth while they talk...just sends shivers up my spine). Every one of them does this thing where they grip it with their teeth at some point or another when they're laughing. I know it's completely my problem, which is why it's here, but GOD DAMN I HATE THE FUCKING THINGS SO MUCH. LOATHE THEM. And it becomes all I focus on till I drive myself crazy.

I'm working really hard lately to find the patience to ignore those little things that suck in all my focus and make me so angry/irritable. This in particularly hasn't been one, but it reminded me of the kind of focus-until-crazy pattern I get into with people who chew with their mouths open, or girls who are constantly twisting their hair, or guys with long hair brushing it airly over their shoulders... I guess the point is, I sympathise with the knowing it's 'your problem' yet experiencing some kind of unfightable agitation at another person for it.

It's the lower lip piercings that get me. I always expect it's going to dribble while drinking, or something.

--Patrick
I've seen that happen in people, with new ones; usually they get used to it and it stops being a problem. I think lower-lip rings are attractive though, so I'm totally in favour of them.[DOUBLEPOST=1378318603,1378318467][/DOUBLEPOST]
It's not so stupid but I do feel like a baby...
My dad has cancer. It sucks and I feel like breaking every morning.
Agh. I'm sorry. That must feel so heartwrenching.

At least for me, the location was pretty much "where on your lip do you want it?"

As far as the other questions, you can still form a seal to drink as long as you're paying attention to what you're doing, so dribbling all over yourself isn't any more of an issue than it may have been beforehand. Not sure about balloons; haven't had a chance to try it since I got this done, but I don't think it would present any problems. Admittedly my piercing isn't central though, so it might be different for people who had it placed there.

Found out that I'm on someone's "never forgive" list.

The crazy part is that it isn't about anything I did or said. They're upset that I was upset with them months ago.
