Legend of Korra

You have to remember that Aang was a few years younger than Katara as well, and girl's grow in height faster than boys.
I do remember but I always kinda of expected him to stay like 5'7 as an adult. I think he might have been more recognizable that way too.

Kind of hoping the pacing issues the show had with the first season would be the thing they would have tried to fix with the second. I guess that was a pipe dream.

Does anyone else feel like this entire season would have worked better with one-hour episodes instead of 30 minute ones? I feel like I'm only getting half the required story each week.

Yeah, its kinda like how the first Justice league series was almost ALL two parters yet they released them one a week. That show ended seven years ago, and that still bugs me.

So... am I the only one who doesn't understand why Mako is upset with Bolin? What the hell was Bolin going to do to help them on a metal boat in the middle of the ocean? He's not a metal bender. I suppose he could have watched the warehouse but neither Asami nor Mako had any idea it needed to be watched...

It really just kind of feels like Mako and Korra are just huge assholes this season. They had better not get back together like nothing happened.

Really? Mako is coming across as the only sensible character in Republic City right now. Except for the whole going to the mafia thing.

Except he hasn't seemed to wise up that the detectives are CLEARLY on the payroll of whoever was responsible for the attacks. Or that the only people around who'd have been able to make the bomb thing with Asami and the businessman. Reasonable maybe, he's been making stupid moves all season.

That last episode featured exactly zero sensible characters....well, unless you count Varrick.

I loved this episode, animation was really TOP notch.
Thought it was a little confusing how it was the lion turtles who gave the humans the power of bending, but I guess when they said dragons/badge-moles/sky-bisons/Sokka's Ex taught the humans how to bend they meant that literally. Still a really good two parter.

Lion turtles GAVE the power of bending to specific people. They stopped giving it once it was time for humans to stand on their own... but that doesn't mean that humans couldn't learn to do it on their own. So they re-learned it from other natural benders as time went by. This is why not everyone can bend in the present time but EVERYONE could in the past.

i just caught up.

I really enjoyed the two-parter. It might be my favourite episode ever. I'm still riding high on it.

How the hell is this the same show made by the same people that produced the first half of this season? I can finally say I like it again. I guess when you cut the rest of the crew out of the show, it's watchable. Bolin, Mako and Asami drag it down SO bad.

It really has gotten infinitesimally better since that 2-part flashback. Who knew adding stakes higher than a civil war would make you actually give more of a shit? I also like how they managed to tie in Tenzin and his family's adventure into the main story.

Though I fully agree with Frank with the other characters. Not only are they dragging things down but honestly, what point does their own little stories have to do with the bigger picture? Unless corporate whatshisname is working for the big bad, then I don't see why the story is still important to even put on the screen.

Yeah, a sub-plot about a former pro-bender becoming an exploitation actor pales in comparison to flash backs to past lives, going to the spirit world and meeting awesome ghost Iroh.

Iroh!

Really enjoyed the last two episodes. There was a lot of missed opportunity at the end of Season 1 where they should have left Korra without the bending other than air and she needed to quest to or through the spirit world to recover it (maybe being less crappy afterwards).

As awesome as it was to see Iroh, I didn't like seeing him at the same time. It feels a little disrespectful to the actor that passed away to use the character, especially with someone trying to do their best Mako impression. I'm torn. I loved the appearance but at the same time, didn't.

I try not to over think it. It's a homage, not an insult to Mako. I can't imagine they brought the character back in that way with anything but respect and love for the guy.

They used the character for an entire season after Mako passed away. The same voice actor that did season 3 of TLA did the voice in that episode.

Yeah, but for a large part of that season, Iroh was completely silent. I don't recall him saying anything (or at least much) after that. But that was a different situation. The character was very integral to story, so it would be difficult to write him out without killing him off.

The Mako sound alike in that last season of ATLA sounded better than the current guy, and if it is the same guy, he just did a worse job here.

You know, I've been skimming through the second season; jumping ahead to certain scenes, etc. And it dawned on me: overall, this season really hasn't been that bad. It had a really strong opening, some good episodes early involving the civil war (and some hilarious moments with Varrick and the twins & Bolin), and setting up all the pieces towards where we are now. All the stuff with the Aang kids was fantastic, as well.

There were a couple of episodes, around 5 and 6, where things were starting to drag. Especially episode 6, which was the one centering on Mako and such. But as I said above, once the two-parter with Wan came out, everything since then has been pretty top notch. I think the earlier episodes with the civil war can be forgiven in retrospect for two reasons: it sets the pieces into place and we're now aware there's a much bigger threat behind it.

Honestly, I'd say this has been a stronger season than last season in a lot of ways. The Wan 2-parter certainly gives it a big nudge, as well.

Best possible pay-off for the Bolin, Mako, and Asami stuff? They fail to stop Varrick from selling weapons to both sides and the entire Southern Water Tribe just gets massacred in the ensuing firefight. Korra returns home and just sees the place leveled.

They all but dumped the rest of the series online, so you can watch it to it's end at midnight Eastern.

That shit doesn't bode well, sounds like Nickelodeon is done with it.
