Crisis of Infinite Spiders

This is going to be worse than the stupid clone thing they always try to pull off. It's going to be a clusterfuck that bleeds into other titles for the expressed purpose of your having to purchase said titles to get the "whole story". Infinite Crisis and a bunch of other things like that turned me way off of comics. I want to read a graphic novel with a storyline, not have to pick up several that I don't normally read just to get a page or two of continuity.

Maybe the infinite Spiders can retcon the abysmal One more Day.... but in all likelihood... "it will forever change the Marvel Universe as you know it!" (for about 6monts then we will revert to the status quo).

Wait wait wait...we don't even know how they're going to handle it. Maybe it will be really tastefully done.

I guess what I'm saying is, they're going to fuck, right?

Didn't they do this in the 90s cartoon? Are they ripping off the 90s cartoons? If so...really? This is what your getting notes from Marvel? Just...just sad.

Honestly, I'm interested in this. Alternate universe stories are pretty cool, allowing them to explore unusual ideas without worrying about the baggage of the status quo. And there are some alternate spider-man versions I'd like to see again.

That's actually exactly what I thought of.

HA HA! I Google image searched for this picture and got an attachment on Hal from a long locked thread.

I guess what's weird to me about it is unlike a multiverse event, some of these are literally just Peter Parker in another costume. Granted, it'll be him at certain points in history before some of his big events, but it still seems a little weird.

Indeed. That's a big part of why this sounds like a stupid idea. It's not like they're dealing with a whole bunch of various alternate universe heroes in some multiverse adventure. It's just one guy, one hero, with a bunch of alternate universe versions.

Can they have an alternate Spider-Man who didn't make a deal with the devil, and can we follow that Spider-Man when the event is over?

Hey guys, remember when DC did this story with Gog killing multiple Supermen in The Kingdom?

Yeah, it wasn't very good then, either.

Also, it sure it great to have Peter back properly just in time to be overshadowed by dozens of the other Spider-Men.

...This is how they deal with One More Day, isn't it?[DOUBLEPOST=1395790747,1395790190][/DOUBLEPOST]Here's the banner for the "Spider-Verse" event (though screw it, I'm calling it Crisis of Infinite Spiders) with the various versions of Spider-Man noted.

What bothers me is that they kept playing up how none of them are going to be safe. Really this will be like ultimatum in that it'll be shocking death of a character we love after shocking death of a character that we love. Only the character us always spiderman.

What's the difference? As the poster shows, there's plenty of people not named "Peter Parker" included, and even some of the Peter Parkers are significantly different from each other to point of which they aren't really the same person. They don't all go by the same superhero name, they don't all wear the same uniform, they don't all have the same powers. That they're mostly alternate universe versions of spider-man doesn't change that it's still a varied group.

And I just noticed Spider-girl is there...this is gonna have a really really REALLY awkward and sad family reunion. Like, quantum sadness. Lets hope she doesn't hear about Pete's deal or OOH BOY! Who am I kidding, they gon' go there. She will yell at him for not being a hero or some such nonsense, and then they fight some super thing and become friends again.

I do like that we're hopefully getting more Kaine Scarlet Spider, and the interactions between him and Ben Reilly should be interesting.

This was my hope the second I saw it. "Surely ONE of these guys knows what happened... even if it doesn't UNDO One More Day, at least letting it be addressed by forcing Peter to own up to it. Make him admit it to himself and everyone else."

But no. That would be smart and compelling.

Smart and compelling went out the window when they announced this. Now we get to settle for hacky and contrived.

Spider-Girl cool. No Ultimate Peter Parker on that poster, like I'm supposed to care about Miles Morales.
