[Gaming] Diablo 3 : Ser Farm-A-Lot

Is there any point in using two-handed weapons? I've never seen a two-handed weapon that would out damage a single weapon and a mojo. Or is it just that certain weapons are better for certain classes?
For witchdoktors, they're almost always going to prefer a one hander and a mojo.

Was hoping to pick this up this week, but bills and cut hours mean I'll have to wait for a sale, I think. Might work my Barbarian in higher difficulties in the meantime, I dunno.

I'm with ya, brother. Saving up for visiting Zach at the end of April is killing me. Gotta love Ramen. I feel like a college kid.[DOUBLEPOST=1395856426,1395856077][/DOUBLEPOST]I should be home playing this right now. Nothing is going on here at work.

Same. I'm heading down to Atlanta again in the second week of May. It's hard to have family on the other side of the country... and having to get there by BUS.

From the official game guide:
...In general, dual-wielding aids fast attacks, resource generation, abilities that have a chance to trigger on hit, attribute bonuses, and gem socketing. Two-handed weapons empower high weapon damage attacks, critical hits and area of effect attacks.
So a two-handed weapon is great for people who like using resource-intensive/expensive skills, as their slower attack speed/higher damage per hit means that you do the same damage per second at a lower expenditure of resource. A good example of this is all the Wizards/Witch Doctors who were using builds based around Skorn*. Two-handed weapons usually have a wider range of stat bonuses and the like in order to make up for hogging your second slot and robbing you of the chance for a second socket**. Also, any skill which says "frags your target for xxx% of weapon damage" will benefit more from having a weapon that has a higher damage stat. I'm sure there's a more spreadsheet-y way to attack this (due to varying weapons speeds, and all), but a quick back-of-the-napkin calculation says that as a general rule, using a 2h weapon is worth considering if its damage is either a) roughly 50% higher than your current 1h, or b) is equal to or greater than 75% of the total dps of your two 1h added together (if dual-wielding).

*Note that this item has changed since 2.0, the older version would often come with Life Steal (up to 6%!) and a guaranteed boost to critical hit damage, with the best ones coming with a socket to boost that even further.
**With one notable exception.

See, I don't understand that. If the 2-H weapon only shows an uptick of 1% over my current two weapons and also gives a bonus to vit, then it's worth it to upgrade. Waiting for 75% is just silly.

Yeah, I was pretty sad to find out that Crusader's the only one with the 2h weapon in 1h skill. I miss my DW-2h Barb from D2.

Just to clarify, that's 75% OF the total OF both your active 1h weapons added together. You're not looking for a 2h that's 175% of your 1h weapon.
Or, if you are a 1h user, you want to try looking for a 2h weapon that is equal to 150% of your single 1h weapon.

Technically, the DH can single-wield a 2h weapon with a simultaneous off-hand, but of course it's only for bows.

My WD is currently using an epic trident. It's +52% damage over any combination of the daggers and fetishes I have.

I'm not cutting through stuff like it was butter on Expert, but I'd still hardly call it difficult. It just means I need to dump all of my mana into Acid Cloud and not just half of it like before. Not sure what I'll d for big bosses though... I could drop my Gargantuan and pick up Haunt and Spirit Barrage, but I'd only be using it FOR bosses. Maybe things will be different when I hit 61 and get Piranhas.

Loot 2.0 is great. My first drop on Expert? A level 53 unique sword with 500+ dps... though it doesn't come close to matching the amulet I got before Izual. It full absorbs ice damage, so I freezing mobs can't hurt me at all.
I'm fairly sure I could handle Expert, but I don't see the point. +25% gold and exp compared to Hard, for enemies with 100% more hitpoints? Unless people've actually figured out that there are Magic Find increases as well....I thought that was only Torment and up?

I personally think there are increases to the rarity of items you can get. I got maybe 5-6 uniques in all of Hard. I've gotten 4 in the time just up to Skeleton King on Expert.

I was taking my 60 Barb through a new run on Expert, but I forgot to reset quests. I might try Master instead, Expert, at least for A1, is pretty easy at Inferno-level gear (pre Loot 2.0).

Been watching my brother play Crusader. Makes me want the xpac so bad.

Nothing blocks you from turning the difficulty down, but you are limited in how far up you can go without leaving and starting a new game.

Okay, I've been playing on Expert for a while now, on suggestion of this here thread. Was about to get bitchy - no usable legendary items in all of Act III and IV (two 2-handed swords, but for a Wizard....and since they both have big + INT bonuses, they're useless for if I want to try another character. Oh well).

I just defeated Diablo. She dropped 3 legendaries and 4 Rares. I'm now wearing 6 of those 7 items. Damn :p

(also, some of the new legendaries are fun to play with and/or ridiculously powerful. Magic Missile has 2 extra missiles isn't huge if you're already using the 3-shots rune...But now I'm casting 3*240% weapon damage, piercing, in a wide line in front of me, for free. Those Reapers go down like flies.)

If you haven't been through ACT V yet, very early on you gain access to a new town NPC called the Mystic. Once you unlock her, she's available in all acts on all characters, just like the blacksmith and the jeweler. She's able to reroll stats on rare and legendary items. So you would, for example, be able to reroll all that INT to STR if you wanted to give those legendary swords to another character.

Your first time through now, Diablo is guaranteed to drop an appropriate legendary.
You can do this over again by hitting the "reset quests" button, but you will have to get all the way back to Diablo to get that legendary again.

I know. Didn't expect 3 of 'm :p

In other news, it's a rare good day here, 24°, sunny, almost no wind...So why is it I'm still queueing for server access and when I do get in, can play half an hour before disconnecting, and have lag the entire time? Almost got me killed a few times!

Dear other Belgian nerds: please go play outside so I can kill reapers in peace. Thank you.[DOUBLEPOST=1396190272,1396190213][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, I like the whole "X people waiting before you - approximately Y minutes remaining" thing, but there's 70+ people ahead in line, it takes 15 minutes easily, not ~1 as you'd have me believe.

I have to say I am glad Blizzard got as much heat as they did over this games release. The game is just amazingly fun now and it likely wouldn't be here if not for the backlash.

True. I don't know how much "worse" this is for the hardcore endgame players, but for the normal players (remember: by far most players never finished any difficulty over "normal") this is tons and tons and tons more fun.

Ok....Just switched weapons, my displayed damage went from 18K to 23K (huzzzah). My actual damage more than tripled...And my criticals went from about 200K to well over 1M. And in Archon form I managed to break 5M. Is something off about those numbers ?

Depends on your other gear. If you have a few "+15% to arcane damage" items or something, those aren't figured into your sheet dps, but you'll definitely notice it in play.

I'm still working to max out my characters so I can empty my stash.
Too much of, "This would be awesome for my Xxxx. Too bad (s)he can't wear it yet" going on.
