Chistmas View-a-Thon 2014!

It's almost that time of year again, folks. The time of year when we sit around the TV and watch our favourite yuletide-themed media! What's your list?

Mine includes:

-Muppets Family Christmas
-Scrooged
-Gremlins (and Gremlins 2, which isn't Christmas-themed, but it's fun to watch those back to back)
-Die Hard
-Batman The Animated Series episode, Christmas with the Joker
-Justice League episode, Comfort and Joy

I might add a few Doctor Who episodes this year, such as The Christmas Invasion, The Next Doctor, and A Christmas Carol.

This year has the biggest addition to my watching: BATMAN RETURNS. It counts! It takes place on Christmas. There's a couple of scenes involving mistletoe. There's a tree-lighting scene. And Bruce and Alfred wish each other a Merry Christmas at the end. I'm counting it. Can't believe I never considered it before.

Blackadder's Christmas Carol (hail Queen Asphyxia! (rawr))
Scrooge (w/ Alastair Sim)
A Charlie Brown Christmas

More later as I think of them.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (it's a family tradition)
Anything by Rankin Bass.
A Charlie Brown Christmas
The Grinch
Love Actually
(and this time I'll remember not to watch the non-tv edit in front of my grandmother and father )
And digging on my old VHS-taped-from-tv of every random Christmas special from my childhood, including Santa Bear, Pac-land Christmas, Real Ghosbusters,The Christmas Toy, Muppet Family Christmas, The Mirthworms and a bunch I forget until I put them on.

There's a distinct lack of Die Hard and Gremlins on that list. Which makes Gizmo sad.

In trying to avoid watching things we watched last year, our list is kind of short, but since we celebrate the winter instead of just explicitly Christmas, that shitty Winter's Tale that came out last year can go on the list. Should be hilarious. Also:

Batman Returns (watched last night)
Die Hard
Winter's Tale
Miracle on 34th Street (thank you @evilmike for posting that it's on Youtube)
Muppet Christmas Carol

... that's all I got so far. Trying to think of more things. We watched the Christmas episodes of TV shows we like last year, Nightmare Before Christmas as usual, Gremlins (and Gremlins 2, you're not alone @ThatNickGuy ). A lot of what Netflix puts up for Christmas is kind of crap, but maybe this year will be better.

Let's see,

already watched;

Scrooged
Jingle All the Way
Bad Santa
Die Hard
Christmas Vacation

Still plan to watch;

It' a Wonderful Life
Miracle on 34th street
Scrooge
A Christmas Carol (Patrick Stewart Version)
Gremlins
Brazil (it happens at Christmas :p)
Lethal Weapon
Elf
Home Alone

I am also doing my annual read of Hogfather. HO.HO.HO.

I've been trying to get my wife to watch Sky One's miniseries of Terry Pratchett's "The Hogfather" as part of our Christmas video watching.

Then there's watching the video of Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "The Ghosts of Christmas Eve" (incorporates TSO's first 2 CDs into a story).

Okay, now I know you're doing it on purpose.
Wow, Fade, I know you have a rep for not liking things, but you don't even like Jingle All the Way?

... good, that movie fucking sucks. It doesn't even have redeeming camp value, because it's a comedy that's not funny. There's just a horrible vacuum that makes you hate the holidays. Oh, there's Charlie's angle.

Die Hard on Sunday, Muppet Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve.
