[Gaming] Diablo 3 : Ser Farm-A-Lot

I always found Iron Maiden enemies to be my nemesis in D2 until I played Skellimancers and Hammerdins. Now it's combinations like Molten/Vortex/Reflects Damage.
There's items to make you immune to both the first ones...And I've personally never had much of an issue with Reflects Damage, but I guess that depends on build/style/class. My Hydra's damage doesn't get reflected to me :p

Nightmarish/waller/desecrator tends to get me, though; Nightmare/waller can tuck you in a corner unable to get out even more than just jailer or such, trapping you in place on a desecrated site. Admittedly, there are immunitiy items for that as well :p

ah, yeah. I run a WD almost all the time and Spirit Walk is a life saver. I use the amulet which makes me immune to Poison almost exclusively, though I've found the Arcane and Cold ones and keep them on hand. Once I find Electric/Fire, I will be one happy camper.

I like the idea of hardcore but we live in the woods and our internet has it's moments. I also seem to prefer the crazy high damage but get one shotted in high grifts approach.

Yet another reason I don't bother above T4: brrrr, switching gear for separate enemy types. I can hardly be bothered to reskill for a boss fight :p

I'm going pretty strong in Torment 5 with a couple bosses giving me a hard time (I don't go anywhere near Malthael, that piece of shit)

I've been trying for the last month to get a Cindercoat for my Witch Doctor and it still hasn't happened. Very frustrating. I've gambled all my shards, even switching to my lvl 70 Wizard hoping that would up my odds. Worst yet, I got one to drop while playing through the game at around lvl 60, which as we know is a huge difference in states from the lvl 70 gear.

So aggravated.

And screw this game for not letting us just upgrade whatever slot we want! Honestly, if I'm playing solo all the time at home anyways, why not allow us to spend all our resources improving the gear we have?!?

Always solo'ing as well... And yes, sometimes it's a bit silly. Still, it's usually a good idea to gather a bunch of blood shards, gamble 4 or 5 times for the same piece, and restart the game - the loot table per game is fairly small (gambling for 20 belts in one game, got the same one thrice...Whoop dee doo :p) and often you simply *can't* get what you're looking for.

Still, gambling for chest pieces is easier than gambling for a specific ring or amulet, be lucky you've got a decent poison immunity ammy I guess? :)

I do have a great poison resist amulet. 635 Int, 17% life, 92% CHD and 8% CHC.

Just rerolled a stat on my COuntess Julia's Cameo (Ignore/heal Arcane) for 100% CHD. I am stoked!! Now to try and get that on the Talisman of Aranoch!!

I've been trying to get a Follower can't die thingy for ages and one hasn't dropped yet for me. I have gotten tons of the access to all skills ones but not the one I need! I have three different Unity rings to chose from ...

On the bright side, I did get two Kridershots yesterday and one was ancient :)

I have a follower-can't-die one, but only for scoundrel...who I've never, ever, ever used. The Crusader's a useful tank, the Sorceress is a nice AOE caster/charmer. What do I need a mediocre ranged attacker for? :p

I have never got a Unity Ring, but have had 3 of the Sorcerer can't die and 1 Rogue can't die. I think this game is taunting me!

T6 would be a breeze if I could get those stupid Unity Rings. Half my damage going to the Sorc while 1/4 going to my Zombie Dogs would make me very tough indeed.

Yeah, that's sort of how I feel about my Crusader too. As a Wizard, that bonus resource generation goes a long way to keep me full of PEW PEW lasers and on my Witch doctor I need him tanking my squishy ass, so why would I ever use anyone else? I'd probably feel differently as a melee class though.

I honestly don't care which of the three follower tokens I get, I just want one. I use the templar now but can gear up one of the others if needed.

I'm having a hard time getting through higher level greater rifts. I can kill quickly but I die so many times.

Max Level hardcore duels were where it was at in Diablo 2. I remember building a smite paladin, back before smite was considered a good skill to build around, and gearing almost exclusively 'crushing blow' gear items, which gave you a % chance to reduce an enemy's hp by 1/4 (1/8th against players). That, coupled with a near never-ending stun and a super fast smite attack rating, meant that as soon as I hit someone, they'd be unable to move and allow me to hit hit hit hit hit until their hp was chunked down to nothing.

Now 4 Thurbles.

That was a fun build, for sure. I really love the old D2 builds. Not sure what makes D3 so different, though.
I miss my 40 man Skeleton Army. Witch Doctor is fun, but 3 Dogs, a Gargantuan, and MAYBE a Fetish group don't compare to my personal Skeleton War.

Definitely. Skeletons were so fun to watch run around and destroy things, especially when they did their last patch and they were viable in the end game stuff. If I could get the new updates, I would hope the new one would make the Zuni set improve the little Flayers to make them more like the old Skelliemancer.

They all give you specific things. Think of them like a fifth passive combined with an extra equipment slot.

Templar: Melee and healing
-Increased healing/Life regen
-Increased resource generation
-Tanker/Minor crowd control (taunt/slow/stun)

Scoundrel: Ranged and crit-focused
-Increased crit chance OR increased damage after landing a crit
-Built-in "I'm not dead yet" ability* (Vanish)
-Minor crowd control (blind/slow/stun)

Enchantress: Ranged and crowd control
-Increased attack speed
-Increased damage reduction
-Minor crowd control (confuse/charm/chickens/knockback)

All Followers:
-Benefit 250% from listed item stats. Giving a follower a ring with +150 (str/dex/int/vit) will cause that follower's (stat) to actually go up +375.
-Benefit from stats the same way as players (Templar/Str, Scoundrel/Dex, Enchantress/Int) as far as damage amplification (+100 prime stat = +100% base damage)
-Do NOT start with 5%chance/50%damage like players, any crit stats they get are entirely due to skills/items (so don't give 'em a huge crit damage unless you also give them some items with crit chance!).
-Continue to give their passive benefit even when they are "dead" or "missing (such as the Scoundrel's 'vanish' or when trapped in a bone cage)"
-Can still benefit from most legendary item/affixes and a few set bonuses (e.g., equipping your Enchantress with The Tormentor and Overwhelming Desire on top of her normal ability will cause her to charm things A LOT).
-Will share with you 20% of the following stats: Magic Find%**, Gold Find%, Bonus exp/kill, Bonus exp%. So an item worn by your follower which would grant you 25% extra gold and +180 exp/kill if you wear it will still grant you 5% extra gold and +36 exp/kill if your follower wears it.

Advice, then:
-If you are gearing your follower with the idea to benefit from bonus MF**/GF/XP items then USE THE TEMPLAR. The templar has an extra equipment slot (1H + shield v. 2H for the others) which means you can stack one additional item with that stat into that mix. His shield slot also means he can potentially get up to an extra 10% crit chance.
-If you are gearing your follower for maximum damage to help you out, then USE THE ENCHANTRESS. 2H maces are by far the highest damage weapons in the game, and she can use them.
-If you're depending on anything that depends on critical hits (arcane regen, pain enhancer gem, various skills), then USE THE SCOUNDREL. A flat +3% crit chance may not sound like much, and when your base chance is low it really isn't, but as you gear your character's crit chance up higher and higher, the ability to get a guaranteed 3% boost on top of that will make exponentially more and more difference.
-For the most part, you are going to want to choose the complimentary follower to your character. That means unless you need something specific that they offer, pick a ranged one if you are melee (Monk/Crusader/Barb), and pick the templar if you are a ranged character.
-There is a legendary item for each follower that makes it so your follower can't die. With this in mind, you may want to collect a set of follower gear that ignores Vitality completely, selecting crit damage or some other stat in its place, since Vit is completely irrelevant if your follower can't die. Same goes for +Block Chance.
-Unless you have enough items with crit chance to make it worthwhile, your follower will probably benefit more from socketing a ruby than an emerald in whatever weapon is being used (unless of course you are using the gem of ease for exp gain Doesn't work that way. Boo.).

Wow, this ended up being a long post.

*All player classes have some sort of ability that lets them cheat death once in a while. The Scoundrel is the only Follower that has such an ability.
**Since Loot 2.0 came out (i.e., after the expansion was released), they changed the way MF works, so while boosting your MF will get you better quality yellow/rare items, its boost to finding legendaries was shrunk so much that you really should just rift, instead (see this video for the explanation).

Hold on, I thought followers couldn't benefit from Legendary gems - any of them. They do receive the Gem of Ease?! 'cause then that wold definitely be my choice until I can finally get it to level 25 and start leveling my barbarian instead of that emerald in his spear right now.....

Also, since I *do* only have the follower-can't-die for a scoundrel, and I *do* use the pain Enhancer, do you think the Scoundrel would be a good/better choice? My ChC is about 34% now, not sure how big of a difference +3% or so would be - the templar's tanking is useful occasionally, definitely, and his arcane regen is sort of needed too...[DOUBLEPOST=1426449059,1426448527][/DOUBLEPOST]Just checked...A Boggit gives me about 15K EXP whether he has it equipped or not - when I equip it my EXP gain goes to about 17K per enemy. Either it doesn't work (the extra EXP isn't shown on the details screen, either, though it is when you equip him with regular +EXP gear) or it's insignificant. Booh.

If the follower is using the gem of ease, that means YOU will get 1/5 of the exp bonus.
I have not tested the gem with my characters (I only got my first GoE last night), so if it does not work with followers, then that would be too bad. I know the other legendary gems do NOT work with followers, it's possible that this one does not also.
EDIT: A few sites say it will work, but the remainder say no. Edited my main post to reflect that.

Mine isn't leveled high enough yet to use it on a low level character, but Squidley's is. perhaps she can equip it on a follower on a level 1 character and confirm? Even 1/5th of a few thousand EXP is enough to instantly level a level 1 character. A try-out on level 1 normal (where "normal" experience is, what, 5 per kill?) should be a clear way to prove if it works or not.

Yes, but does the "Bonus exp per kill" in YOUR details page (it's near the bottom) go up when that weapon is equipped on your follower?

--Patrick

If the gem DID work, it would've changed the "Bonus Experience per Kill" from 90.00 to something higher, not the %.
So now it's confirmed, Gem of Ease does not work on followers. So much for my dreams of leveling up TWO of them for extra juicy exp gain.

What it's like playing a T6 rift as a Demon Hunter once you have some good items and plenty of paragon points underneath you.
