This is an easy one I'm surprised we never discussed before. Naturally, we can list off our favourite, best, or worst movies or shows. But how about the trailers that got us excited in the first place?
Just to keep scrolling time down, how about putting the video behind spoiler text? And now for some of mine:
Green with Envy (aka: The Muppets)
I legitimately saw this trailer without knowing what it was, so I wound up being completely and pleasantly surprised. Brilliantly marketed and completely in-line with classic Muppets humour.
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me
This came out in the same summer as The Phantom Menace, arguably one of the most hyped movies to come out in years. Naturally, even Mike Myers knew everyone was going to see it, so he played along with that.
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
Say what you will about the movie itself, but EVERYONE nerded out when they saw this movie.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy teaser
Up until that point, I'd honestly never read J.R.R. Tolkein's classic books. Immediately after seeing this trailer, though, I went out and bought the books (starting with The Hobbit, as suggested by a friend). This was just completely epic and made EVERYONE excited. Many people thought these movies could NEVER be made, but brother, this trailer made a believer out of you.
Superman Returns
Man, say what you will about the movie, you can't deny that this trailer was AWESOME. Just how it slowly builds up until BOOM. I had chills running up my spine the first time I watched this.
Sin City
I was so unbelievably stoked to see this.
The Matrix
The trailer really didn't reveal much about what the movie was about. Honestly, they couldn't without revealing what titular The Matrix was. But goddamn if it didn't look cool as hell.
Hellboy (second trailer)
The first one was great, but this is what REALLY sold me on the movie. If only for John Hurt's best line in the movie, which wasn't in the first trailer, "There are things that go bump in the night, Agent Myers. We are the ones who bump back."
The Avengers
Loki: I have an army.
Tony: We have a Hulk.
Cloverfield
Goddamn, did this ever make me want to see the movie.
