[TV] The Walking Dead

Another week of no answers *cry*
At least they addressed the elephant in the room though.

That woman couldn't even kill a SINGLE walker when she had to. She's a great city planner, but she's barely more competent than the rest of her neighbors. What right did she EVER have to be in charge that wasn't born from her former senator status?

Here's the thing.
Would anyone else in that town have stepped forward to lead? The impression I get from Alexandrians in general is that they wanted to be herded and kept safe. It's not as if she took over against their will. When push came to shove, and Deanna realized that couldn't just hide and hope for the best any more, they did start looking for fighters to give the town a wake up call. She had her moment of doubt with Gabriel, but it's not surprising that the town would listen to a priest, when they don't realize he's crazy.

I don't really think whether or not she can physically fight a zombie should have bearing on whether or not she should have been allowed to lead. That entire town willingly turned a blind eye to what was going on because it wasn't happening to them until now. Watching them cry and moan about how the world is ending NOW is almost cute. [emoji14]

The whole scene with the zombie made me sad, but I just tell myself that she wouldn't have penetrated to the brain with a broken bottle anyways and try not to cry.

I think she got way too much blame for sheltering them. It's not like she went out of her way to hide it, they were just never faced with the need to fight. She knew that, and like dei said, tried to change it. I think her biggest mistake is not having a farm set up already.

Someone who can rally and someone who can fight don't need to be the same person.

Can anyone tell me what that last shot of the episode was? The "boom" sound effect that cut to credits suggested I was supposed to know what it meant, but it just looked like blood running down the wall.

That's exactly what it was.

This episode had a dramatic speech every single scene. It got annoying.
I feel like the only time it really felt forced was with the blonde girl (I can't remember any of the alexandrian's names...)

She stabs that woman in the face, and then just suddenly turns around and starts giving a speech to the people passing on the street. And the entire time, all I could think of was "You're speaking in your normal voice... those people can't hear you"

Yeah, that was way too forced.

I don't know, this episode reminded me of a season 2 episode.

That was one of the STUPIDEST deaths I've ever seen. At this point, most adult human survivors have killed dozens, if not hundreds, of zombies. There are obvious exceptions like the nigh useless Woodbury and Alexandria survivors, but the nomadic survivors would be tougher. You'd think she wouldn't panic like a Friday the 13th victim just because an immobile zombie snarled at her.

It was, especially when you start your think about why the zombies would just lay there still for that long until someone decided to show up. Zombies wander. They wouldn't have just layed there.

Also the scene with Darrell trying to get the crossbow out of the bag.

I think they were melted in and no one had come through. But no idea why she would freak out like that unless she's been so protected in the shithole their group came from that she never had to do anything.

Daryl's had that crossbow for so long! :(

Also, the radio voice at the end:

I think it was Glenn.

I think they waited a little too long to finally tell us what happened. It felt like all the suspense was gone by this episode.

Had someone spoil the midseason finale for me. I literally shouted "WHAT THE FUCK, WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT" at the Thanksgiving table, right by all my little cousins.

That was a pretty good mid-season finale.

Sam is going to get some people killed.

Comic book spoiler below
He DOES get his Mom killed when he pees his pants and starts crying.

People were really aggravating me this episode.

Every action taken by Ron.

Totally better to certainly be eaten by walkers than chance a treatable gunshot wound.

"Hey, what's that ahead?"
"I don't know, let's keep driving toward it."

My number one problem is with Jesse.

I don't blame Sam for that bit at the end. I blame Jesse, because she keeps treating him like he can't handle anything--as if there's a choice? Maybe while Rick and Michonne were cutting open dead bodies, it would've been a good idea to let the idea sink in with the kid instead of waiting until he discovered this and then give him a glancing explanation instead of telling him exactly what he needed to do. Had Carol been there, he wouldn't have had any illusions about what to do, because she would've just straight-up told him.

And why the hell did no one turn off that fucking record the entire episode?!

It felt like it was one forced bad decision after another just to set up the cliffhanger.

It wasn't bad, but it didn't feel all that great to me.

Happy as I am that Glenn is alive, the fake-out has taken away some of the show's tension for me. While I watch now, I'm viewing less in "oh no, what's going to happen next?" and more "oh no, what are the writers going to decide happens next?" The latter has always been the truth, but it wasn't something I had in mind while watching until now. There's a term for it, but I'm tired and it's slipped my mind.

Suspension of disbelief?

Suspension of disbelief?
That's it. Wow, I must've been fucking exhausted last night to forget that, but at least I finished my sentences.

Yeah, I feel like I see the Matrix code while watching now. It's not boring or predictable, but I feel less engaged because my suspension of disbelief has faltered.

Except for the magic rocket launchers. Yes, I know they got them a few episodes ago. I don't care.

Otherwise... yeah, it's probably the best episode they've done in years, which is odd because this entire season has been pretty great.

I'm late chiming in.

Awesome start, awesome finish. The episode was the usual length, but felt like it flew by.

I cared about Jesse and her family before, but when they died ... I didn't really mind. Though when Carl took one to the eye, I was ready to call it quits because it would've been such a stupid way for him to go.

They're going to keep pretending Glenn will die until we don't believe it anymore, then kill him.

Pretty much everyone alive has been redeemed, except Judith. Lazy baby hasn't killed a single walker. Not one.

She made her brother kill his mother though, WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK?!
