I like that about the Karate Kid. Daniel isn't 100% innocent, but he is being bullied. The bully isn't necessarily a bad kid either. In the end they're all just asshole teenagers - like everywhere in America.
I think it's quite funny that I was the bullied kid in H.S., but my bullies now complain about H.S. bullies on FB.

The worst part is that the after school special shit doesn't happen in real life. They're not working at McDonald's as promised. Those guys did pretty well in life using the same tricks they used to pull the wool over the teachers' eyes throughout school.

My high school bully got arrested for rape and sentenced to 11 years in prison back in 2017. He got out after 2.5 years and was just busted for using his custodian keys as a building manager to get into a woman's apartment and stand over her as she slept.

Man that sucks.
One of mine apparently has some kind of job that allows him to travel all around the country spending his time outdoors in beautiful parks.
One of mine owns a petroleum-related support business. The other owns a shit-ton of real estate in S.W. Oklahoma. The first one still seems like a total prick still (according to FB). The real estate guy seems like he's become a fairly decent dude. I know he's given a bunch of cash for some local charities and helped a few individual families.
Two other bullies are still white-trash retards and post super fucked up far-right b.s. on FB. I see their posts on other folks walls. I refuse to "friend" any of those fuckers.
I never really had any bullies that targeted me directly. But there were a number of toughs/jerks/assholes I had to deal with on the daily.
I don't really remember their names, except for one guy. Who has a super-unique name, and easy to google.
5 arrests in California, and his wife and daughter split and moved several states away. So not surprised.

I've had the opposite experience, too, unfortunately. There are a couple of people I really liked in HS, and they became intolerable pricks, constantly spewing hatred on FB.
I changed countries (partially) to escape bullying. I don't keep up with what my former tormentors are doing with their life, I don't see the point.
This happened to a close friend of mine after he joined the army.
I'm not saying the army turns everyone into an asshole, but it turned him into one.
I had one main bully that messed with me constantly in school.
When checking reunion sites (classmates.com) and such, I see some of his school buddies have tried to contact him/find out what he's up to, but nobody seems to know what he's up to, where he is, or even whether or not he's still alive.
Weird.
