Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

See I'd find that interesting because that would be a precedent for Atheism to be treated like a religion. Which in some places means NO usage of public facilities for religious purposes. So that may backfire spectacularly.
Psssst...it always ends with discrimination based on Christianity being ok and discrimination against Christians not being ok.

So the employers would stop paying healthcare, and realize a 1.1 trillion savings each year.

The citizens would stop paying co-pays and deductibles, and realize a 400 billion savings a year.

The government would have to increase income taxes by 1.5 trillion to pay for this "cheaper" healthcare, and the citizens would realize a 1.1 trillion tax increase each year.

So the corporations and rich get to foist the costs to their employees.

Clever.

It's not religion, but it is a religious position...

This almost could've gone in the "funny politics" thread.

Too bad it's only a theoretical position, and there are no examples of such a thing being implemented anywhere in the world...

Man, if only there was any way to tax people and corporations in some sort of progressive way...

Also, nice of you to imply they aren't already foisting the costs to their employees. Coz i'm sure they never use HC benefits in calculating what YOU cost them...

I think we can agree, at least, that whatever the average american gets for healthcare should be what congress gets, and whatever congress gets is available to the average american.

Let's start there and see where things go.

And I'm pretty sure I have to pay for part of my health insurance too. I'm sure some jobs cover it 100%, but I'm guessing it's not close to a majority.

So, single payer it is? Oh, and after 8 years on the job you have it for life... or was that some sort of pension, i forget...

So how many children have died in ICE detention facilities under other administrations to make this irrelevant?

Go ahead, I'll wait. I've got all night.

I'm going to go on a limb here and say "hundreds if not thousands". You think the native American kids didn't die during displacement, or the Japanese during WWII? All the best bits of your country's history have innocent kids dying in jail!

More seriously, errr, what *did* you do in the Philippines?
The Philippines was a colony of the US for a bit. We treated them in the manner typical of colonial powers. Which is to say, horrifically.

That being said, DarkAudit specifically asked about children dying under ICE supervision so given that ICE as an agency is less than 20 years old, I don't think they did much to the natives or Filipinos.

Man, ICE is a lot older then i thought...

"Mr Sauer represented Illinois' 51st district, and was a member of the House Sexual Discrimination and Harassment Task Force. "

Of course.
Somewhat similar to how many horrifically oppressive dictatorships are on the UN Human Rights Commission. Both are like "WTF???"

Get me some dank kush plz.

I look forward to that passing, so my idiot coworker will get arrested for trafficking crossing the border for a Bills game. He's smart enough not to take his weed to a game right now, but dumb enough not to know NY legalizing it doesn't mean he can bring it into the US.
