[NCAAF] 2018 College Football Season

Both Nebraska and ISU fans got blue balled out of actual games, and from what I gather over at Nebraska's subreddit and the game thread, Fox denied their request to move the game to an earlier slot because it would've interfered with their TV schedule, so Nebraska paid Akron $1M to show up, run out of the tunnel, kick off, and go home.
Alex Peete rushed for 107 yards with a touch as we defeated the Other Concordia University, 24-6. Game was basically over before halftime, as the Hawks scored all 24 of their points in the first half. Mitchell Dess caught a 50-yard pass from Cole Wilber to make it 14-0 just over 10 minutes into the game.
Next week it's Middle Georgia State (NAIA school) at Perkins.

And how did that Cowboys game work out for ya?
Not excited this season. Don't know why. Kind of college football burn out. OU should do decent this season, but I just can't get excited about it. Maybe things will be exciting later this season.
Dude Oklahoma is gonna be amazing. I could even see them being the team that loses to Alabama in the title game this year.
Hmm... seems four years worth of reports of holding female coworkers down and attempting to kiss them, inappropriate behavior with and in front of donors, misappropriation of university funds, and meeting with escorts on overnight work trips doesn't constitute sufficient cause to conduct a formal investigation, or to forward those allegations to the police department, for WSU. I can't say I'm the least bit surprised. The accused is Jason Gesser. He may as well be Brett Favre and the second coming of Jesus himself where WSU is concerned. Leaf got them to their first Rose Bowl in decades, but no one could deny that he was a prick - his own coach had to bust him for parking in the handicap spot at our grocery store once. But Gesser? Gesser was polite, he was charming, he played through injury time and time again - he was everything they could have wanted as a starting QB. They could even blame their getting blown out in his Rose Bowl appearance on the extent of his rib injury and the amount of pain killers he was obviously on. Now he's a big fish in a minuscule pond, and they'll do anything to protect his reputation and theirs.
Moos' sudden departure for Nebraska always seemed a bit suspicious, but really it was more that Nebraska would want him than that he'd jump from Podunktonville USA to literally anywhere larger. Hopefully a little bit of press coverage will nudge them into maybe reconsidering their determination and possibly investigating, or maybe, potentially sending some of the recent reports to the PD.

Urban Meyer continues to whine about how he's the real victim here, and how he was suspended because he "mismanaged a very troubled employee and tried to help him too much." No you shit bag, you were suspended because you lied to the media about not having known that he had a history of domestic violence. You were suspended because you hired him in the first place after knowing that he had a history of DV and failed to tell your AD about his record. You were suspended because you chose to extend his contract twice after you had evidence that he beat his wife (a text message in which the accused admitted to the victim that he had choked her nearly to death).
At the press conference where they suspended him for "3 games" (which literally meant only those 3 days, apparently, since he was allowed to go back to coaching practice two weeks ago) he apologized to the fans and the university for them being in this situation, but refused to actually apologize to the person who was being beaten by his employee. At this point, I don't know why the university hasn't told him to shut the hell up about it, because every time he opens his mouth he just sounds even more tone-deaf about the whole situation.

Well, Gesser has resigned. Can't say I know much about this case, but at least theres been some modicum of justice.
Too bad. WVU has a pretty great QB this season.
All rivalries aside, thoughts and prayers for Christion Abercrombie of Tennessee State University - who suffered what is believed to be a very serious brain injury during yesterday's game with Vandy. Luckily, he's in some of the best hands he could be when it comes to neurological events and his collapse happened 1,000 feet from a level 1 trauma center, but "conscious and non responsive" is usually very, very bad.
Yeah, there's some speculation that it could have been a secondary-hit injury, so he would've sustained the bigger part of the blow in a previous game and a smaller, less violent hit could have triggered the bleed (still, assuming) yesterday.
WARHAWKS ARE STILL UNDEFEATED!
Downing their first WIAC opponent in 25th ranked UW-La Crosse, the Warhawks scored 27 unanswered points in a 30-7 win at UWLC.
Senior QB Cole Wilber threw for 244 yards and 3 touchdowns (all to three different receivers), while Soph RB Alex Peete ran for 102 yards and added a late TD to seal the deal.
The turning point in the game came in the fourth, when Junior DB Garrett Purdy intercepted Eagles' QB Ben Schramski on their first play from scrimmage after UWW had upped the score to 17-7.
Whitewater (now ranked #8 by d3football.com) will continue the WIAC schedule by facing the always-tough (and 10th ranked) UW-Oshkosh at Perkins Stadium next Saturday.

Looks like details about University of Maryland's investigation have been forwarded to the Washington Post. If there's investigative consensus, they'd best be firing that head coach and everyone under them, post haste - because this is a program that should have been granted the death penalty, and we know that will never happen again.
Rivalries are sad when one of the teams just quits caring about football.
