Watched the All in the Family, Jeffersons live event. It was pretty good. But Woody Harrelson trying to do a Bronx accent was laughable. But Jamie Foxx delivered as George Jefferson.
I don't know if you genuinely don't know or if you're making fun of me for spelling his name wrong....who?
I'm well aware. Actually wrote about that, but somehow it didn't post? Like 2 paragraphs of text are gone.I have some bad news about yesterday.
Because he was winning way more per day? For awhile his daily average was higher than the previous single day record.Still didn't make it halfway to Ken Jennings. Don't know why everyone is going so gaga over this guy.

Statistically, at 33 games he was neck and neck with Jennings. A few stats give Holzhauer a light edge, a few give Jennings a slight edge:Because he was winning way more per day? For awhile his daily average was higher than the previous single day record.
Asking why people were enthralled by him is like asking why people like watching Sidney Crosby when he hasn't beat Wayne Gretzky's records.

To make Adam and Eve black? No. But it's there to, among other things, let people like you know that you can stop watching now.
You wouldn't like what's up ahead. The show is mean to Nazis, for a start.
I get that, but two things: suggesting that it is not exciting because he didn't break the record implies that it is not exciting to see any competition until after the fact. Is it more exciting to see Usain Bolt broke his own time record, or is it more exciting to watch him do it? I know my answer.

My comment was actually intended as a bit of explanation (and pastiche) for why people always seem to care more about #1 than #2, and also to give Dave a bit of crap for what essentially amounted to stereotypically saying, “What? He did not beat Jennings’ record? BOOOORIIIING!”I get that, but two things: suggesting that it is not exciting because he didn't break the record implies that it is not exciting to see any competition until after the fact. Annnnnddddddd they cancelled it.Swamp Thing
The DC Universe shows are getting better. Titans had a rough start, but Doom Patrol was awesome from the first episode and Swamp Thing seems to be the same. It’s definitely horror, which I’m usually not into, but I love Swamp Thing! I love that they did the costume as a practical effect, because it looks amazing (from what we’ve seen of it so far). Madame Xanadu and Blue Devil will also be on the show. I’d like Matt Ryan’s Constantine to find his way over to the swamp, too. I know it’s a long shot, but DC Universe would be a much better home for Constantine than CW.
I've also been hearing some rumors that Warner is looking at creating their own streaming service. Wouldn't surprise me if they were to shut down DC Universe and just move the content over to a broader Warner streaming thing. What this says to me is: don't bother with the DC Universe service. If they're not at least willing to let it play out a season, see how it goes, they could do that for any show. I'm glad I didn't get the chance to sign up yet, because I love Swamp Thing and that's what wouldn't brought me in. I would've watched Doom Patrol, but that would've been "okay, I have this."
This was a dumb decision and I hope they'll come to regret it.
They weren't going to get the tax breaks that they thought they were going to get. *depending on sources, from close to 40M down to about 14M*What this says to me is: don't bother with the DC Universe service. This happened in Detroit too; city offered film incentives, production companies came in and started filming there, essentially starting a new industry. Administration changed, production companies moved out and the industry collapsed. They weren't going to get the tax breaks that they thought they were going to get. *depending on sources, from close to 40M down to about 14M*
They were spending money making a great show *loved the pilot*, then NC says "Oh, btw, We fucked up about your subsidies. While it does suck to be you, please don't pull your production from our state."
WB/DC deserves a lot of hate, this isn't on them.
I know about the tax thing, but my point is, why should I, as a customer, trust the service is worth getting? The 26 million dollar difference is a lot of money, but auto-dumping upon being told that screams "this service was supposed to be an easy quick cash grab, not a sustained business venture." Netflix didn't begin where it is; it built its way there. They're spending way beyond what they could be seeing in subscriber numbers. If they don't want to see if they can get more subscriber numbers, make more money, that doesn't seem like they're in this for the long haul. They weren't going to get the tax breaks that they thought they were going to get. *depending on sources, from close to 40M down to about 14M*

This makes me sad, too, but at least we got two more seasons (thanks Netflix!) and an actual ending. Ending the show when Fox cancelled it (after what happened in that season’s last episode) would have really sucked.
What it reminds me of most is the Southwestern United States.Help me out artists of Halforums, is there a term for the type of color palette used? I'm absolutely adoring how it's primarily muted shades of orange, red, and brown, with a specific shade of grey-blue tossed in. Take this shot from the libary, for instance:
It reminds me of something I've seen before, but I can't quite put my finger on it.
I'd just go with muted earth tones, but there might be something more specific that I can't think of.I've been watching Hilda on Netflix. It's super charming, and I'm looking forward to finishing the season. I love the characters, and the world is fascinating.

From my memory of art history, these colors are historically the cheap and easier to produce pigments. Well, maybe not the blue, I'm not sure how hard that muted shade of blue is to get, but no bright colors, lots of shades of iron oxides, no purple to speak of. Huh, I wonder if that's the intention.

15th century colored woodcut for reference.
There are exceptions to that color palette. Ghosts have a vivid green glow, there's a librarian who has purple hair, and a brighter yellow gets used during night scenes for the light coming out of windows, but bright colors are used very sparingly. I love it so much.
