[Movies] MCU: Phase 5 - To Kang or Not to Kang

This week's She-Hulk had me laughing hard than I have the past weeks, and yes, I am kinda bummed they spoiled the guest-star ahead of time.
The comments about the property damage were on-point. Also, good to know about the Sokovia Accords.
But man, did that ending make me sad. It's not that it was that shocking, considering what we've seen, but ...slut-shaming her, on top of ruining her moment? Jesus, fucking Bad Guys. Sadly, probably one of the most realistic villain tactics we've seen in the MCU.

Well, that episode was a LOT of fun. Heck of a set up for the finale, too. More thoughts behind the spoiler.

I love how Charlie Cox continues to prove he was a perfect casting for the role. Even in this lighter take on the character, he nails that playful or flirty side of Daredevil. When 'ol hornhead isn't feeling particularly threatened, he often has this sly, playful grin, which Cox has done to perfect. It's little touches like that that make me so glad he was cast in the role and Disney has decided to KEEP him in the role. Daredevil is an incredibly versatile character, where you can put him in dark, brooding situation AND lighter situations like this. And Daredevil is known for making quips. Not quite on the level with Spider-Man. His are more dry and sarcastic, or a little playful and flirty, as we saw here.

I also love that we got to see him do some actual ninja flippy stuff. Something the Netflix series didn't really include. He's a trained ninja. Of course he's going to do flippy dippy stuff.

I loved that walk of shame at the end. I laughed so hard at that and it's a perfect "guest appearance in a comedy" thing you'd see in a She-Hulk comic.

Wasn't so crazy about the "ketchup and mustard" outfit, but meh, for a one-off appearance in a sitcom, it fit. He said the tailor made him suits, plural, so I doubt it'll stick by the time we get to his own upcoming series.

Additional thought: I think it's hilarious the usual chuds are reacting to the cliffhanger as if the show wrote it as a reaction to their "criticisms."

No, you morons, it's because your usual nonsense is so goddamn by-the-numbers predictable that they wrote all that well in advance, KNOWING how you'd overreact.

God forbid a show's theme be about a common fear that women have, and pre-emptively call out you chowderheads because it knew how you'd react.

I  that Walk of Shame forever.

She-Hulk ep 8:
I may be unreasonably pleased that the true villains the whole time were just incels using revenge porn to slut-shame Jen into "being a monster", but I really love that the incel response would be so entirely predictable to the show runners.

One of the usual chuds chimed with this cover picture for the video.

To which, all I can say is "Oh, he got destroyed, all right!" :unibrow::unibrow::unibrow:

Werewolf by Night
An actually entertaining one-off special that wonderfully pays tribute to old black and white monster films.
Man-Thing looks amazing by the way. I wish they could make She-Hulk look that good.

"Who or what is a Man-Thing?"

It’s just an entry for a listing on a comic character.

In Secret Wars, I hope there's a scene where a fake is discovered, and instead of turning into a Skrull, they turn into Mephisto.

The only thing from Agents of Shield I want to stay canon is Ghost Rider. Give me my flaming skull boy God damn it.

Keanu Reeves apparently wants to play Ghost Rider. So here's my pitch: do it like The Marvels and call it Ghost Riders.

Bring back Nic Cage as Johnny Blaze.
Bring back Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes.
And introduce Keanu Reeves as Danny Ketch.

Heck, you could change up Blaze so he's the trenchcoat and sunglasses badass with an enchanted shotgun like he became in the comics when the mantle went to Ketch. Which gives Cage the opportunity to Cage it up without being covered by CGI.

I would watch that. That would be the first Marvel movie in years that I would be there opening night for.

But they would call them The Spirits of Vengeance 100%

My prediction for the She-Hulk finale is that she takes down the Intelligencia leaders, and then Emil's support group tracks down and beats up the posters. I can picture Man-Bull and El Aguila knocking on a door, then a poorly groomed neckbeard answers it.

El Aguila: "Perdon, senor. Did you post 'She-Hulk is a landwhale and only simps and Chads like her'? Was that you?"

Seriously, seeing incels get their pasty asses handed to them would be satisfying to see. And I can just hear the wails of distress from real-life incels and MRAs.

She-Hulk prediction.
Todd is going to be behind most of these attacks. He knows her phone number which he could have easily gotten when Josh copied her phone. He bought that Wakandan spear which he could have melted down into the needle needed. Now he's discredited her enough and made her angry-hulk side show that he can now "save the day" as another hulk.

I appreciate that my own prediction was so MCU cliche that even the show called it out as such. I'm satisfied with the ending. A little weird, but I appreciate that they took the stakes down. I think my favorite part in the whole episode was just the family barbeque at the end with Matt answering a bunch of questions. Not sure what to think of the weird Hulk son reveal, but I guess that's for another season or show or movie to answer.

She-Hulk finale was great!
I, like Shawn, was glad that they called out their own tropes, and even though it went off the rails a bit, turned the ending into something unique. Although, I did have the K.E.V.I.N. slightly spoiled because I watch with the closed captioning on. Probably going to watch this series again. Please give us a season 2!
