My biggest issue here is that we're heading to a world where the biggest social media - and thus the most effective media to broadcast propaganda and influence people - will be in the hands of Bezos, Musk, Trump and Ye. That's not exactly a club I like to think of as the Leaders of the World, or the people Controlling The Narrative. can we go back to the shady backroom dealings by unknown but at least somewhat competent businessmen?

Everything I've heard, it was pronounced parler, like a "parlor." Which, for something created by rich people, doesn't surprise me.

I'm just sad there still isn't a decent twitter alternative. Either they're fascist - Gab, Parler, Truth - or needlessly complicated - Mastodon - or have different functionality - Discord etc.

Or they have a tiny userbase, uncertain future, the app is still very much in development, and there's no desktop access via a website - Hive Social.
