[Music] Eurovision Song Contest 2025

And like every year no matter how bleak and stupid the world has become we all can enjoy a bit of fun that is the Eurovision Song Contest.

And like every year I get into it mostly blind without knowing much about the songs and acts. (And post about it way to late.)

I try not to get to much informations about the acts to not get spoiled for the main event.

So I avoided the semifinals or any covering of the ESC until the main event.
Heck, I didn't even watched the performance of the german act.

You can watch the show on YouTube if the stream is available in your region. The live show begins in a hour:

1 Norway: Kyle Alessandro "Lighter"
- reminds me of K-Pop.
2 Luxembourg: Laura Thorn "La poupée monte le son"
- not bad, really. and I don't say it because she is hot.
3 Estonia: Tommy Cash "Espresso Macchiato"
- Bad, just bad
4 Israel: Yuval Raphael "New Day Will Rise"
- too bad that politics will play a role.

5 Lithuania: Katarsis "Tavo akys"
Gothic alternative rock
6 Spain : Melody "Esa diva"
- also not bad.
7 Ukraine: Ziferblat "Bird of Pray"
- The embodiment of the ESC with the stage performance
8 United Kingdom : Remember Monday "What the Hell Just Happened?"
- sounds like a song straight from a comedy musical tv show. But not bad.

9 Austria: JJ "Wasted Love"
Wait, isn't that the guy from norway again? Not my taste and the techno rock bit is nothing new
10 Iceland: Væb "Róa"
How old are the artist this year? And it's no JaJa Ding Dong
11 Latvia: Tautumeitas "Bur man laimi"
I guess the body suits will awaking something in some people. I kinda like the song.
12 Netherlands: Claude "C'est la vie"
- I don't know why but I like this style of songs.

13 Finland: Erika Vikman "Ich komme"
Why do I have the feeling this song will win?
14 Italy: Lucio Corsi "Volevo essere un duro"
A italian David Bowie. And thank god they used subtitles.
15 Poland: Justyna Steczkowska "Gaja"
And now a polish Cher.
16 Germany: Abor & Tynna "Baller"
Maybe we will win? It's not a bad song but maybe too German?

17 Greece: Klavdia "Asteromata"
That was not bad. Will probably also got many votes.
18 Armenia: Parg "Survivor"
Don't really care. Let's see if will survive the voting.
19 Switzerland: Zoë Më "Voyage"
Will Switzerland win again. A really beautiful song
20 Malta: Miriana Conte "Serving"
A typical pop song. Sex sells I guess.

21 Portugal: Napa "Deslocado"
Reminds me somewhat of a later Beatles song
22 Denmark: Sissal "Hallucination"
I can't put my finger on it but the song reminds me of something
23 Sweden: KAJ "Bara bada bastu"
A sauna song. I believe we have found the favourite of Halforums
24 France: Louane "Maman"
So many song about mothers this year.

25 San Marino: Gabry Ponte "Tutta l'Italia"
I'm not sure if the song is celebrating italia or not.
26 Albania: Shkodra Elektronike "Zjerm"
Parts of it sounds a bit like from the Witcher 3 soundtrack.

Looks like I have a really bad musical taste. All the songs I like got no or little points. Austria won with a song I said I didn't care about. And it looks like politics doesn't play a role after all. Israel had a good song and got a good second place.

If you think politics didn't play a role you're off the mark.
Israel scored this high partially because of politics. But I'm very happy they didn't win.

At least the guy can sing. I wasn't a fan but there were definitely worse choices. Including Israel, that would've been a nightmare for next year. Boycotts all around.
