Andromache

Got any more of her? She's about a billion times hotter than the Belle Chere girl (who has a decent body, but a mediocre face).
There aren't enough languages with the proper amount of phrases to proportionally, disdainfully disagree with you and insult your lack of taste at the same time.

I was about to say no, but then I realized I probably do. I'm pretty sure I've got pics of her as Dr. Mrs. The Monarch (Venture Bros) that I'll be posting later, and I think some of good Mary Marvel as well. For now you can check out her Flickr photostream.

I'm confused, why is this awesome? Silver spray paint ftw? :?[/quote]

I like it. It just feels like Colossus to me. It's not perfect, the spray-on ab-lines were a bad choice, but the bodypaint is pretty even, the guy has a lot of muscle, and is very imposing.

I could not help laughing at this bunch..
nice effort, but really..
not.even.close.
Yeah, most in that group are pretty bad. Mystique is good, though, I and I didn't see any other pics of her.

Oh crap, I just noticed Prof X is in an office chair.

What's with all the hate on cosplayers who don't do a 100% perfect job? They're just out there having a good time, and sitting behind your computer denigrating them just seems kind of... weak, y'know?

I went to GenCon this year with friends, and we all dressed up for the occasion. None of us were particularly good (one was just a basic renfest outfit, albeit a rather good one), but we all had a good time, and we all got some pictures snapped of us. The idea of someone typing away on a forum post over some picture of me in my so-so BSG marine costume makes me a little irritated. If someone is recognizable, enjoying themselves, and plainly put some work and money into their costume, why snipe at them?

Because we are nerds and within all of nerds is a tiny, blistering ball of pure hate. Hate for the beautiful people who mocked us, hate for the family that doesn't understand us, hate for a society that refuses to accept us... whatever the source, it's there. This is simply it bubbling to the surface briefly.

Well, just because I criticize doesn't mean I hate. In fact, there's a lot of bad cosplay where the people look like they're having more fun than some of the really impressive costumes, and I say more power to them. I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings with criticism. There are many types of "good" and I'm using a rather fickle one for my posts in this thread.

I personally like to hear some criticism when I've done some sort of public performance (which cosplay is) because I want to know what I can do better next time. If all I hear are compliments, I have a harder time knowing what I can do better the next time. I also feel like people aren't really paying attention, or are just being nice.

I can't fathom why criticism is equated with hate. Just because I've found a flaw doesn't mean I didn't enjoy seeing the cosplay, or that I think that the person shouldn't have worn the costume at all. Some of these cosplays are truly excellent, they excel in their field of artistty, and they set the bar pretty high. If you can't handle the thought of being criticized, maybe you shouldn't go in costume to a con where people have higher expectations than at, say, a small costume party. If you go to a Ren Fest, be expected for people to notice anachronisms in your costume. (Yes, people who work at Ren Fairs or who belong to the SCA roll their eyes at people wearing watches or sneakers while in costume). For most of them, it's not out of hate, it's about high standards and an ideal, a love of the art.

My bad, then. I interpreted it as badmouthing. You intended it as mere commentary. Simple miscommunication.

You made a good point though. I looked back over some of my posts on this page, and they weren't worded very constructively. I may have lacked malice in saying them, but I certainly didn't think about my phrasing at all. I also may be getting a little jaded about cosplay, having sifted through thousands and thousands of photos over the last several weeks of doing this thread.

No one can make Domino look worse than Rob Liefield did. Any cosplay is an improvement. :)

(Says a newly minted fan of a Liefield co-creation *shoots self*)

That's Pete Wisdom, though I think she might have the eye patch on the wrong eye.
Thank you. It's much better as a Pete Wisdom cosplay than as a freakish Nick Fury.

As to the eyepatch, if the gender swapped, maybe the eye got flipped as well. She could have put more thought into it than I assumed.

Actually, it's funny, I looked up Wisdom and it turns out he only wore the eye patch for a little bit, to look cool. So really it doesn't matter, hehe.
