I'll Find a Beatles song YOU Like

Ok, so it's a lazy Saturday morning (why am I even awake is beyond me) and I decided to try a little experiment out.

I've always thought that The Beatles catalog is so fracking ECLECTIC that there must be something in there for any taste... if you know where to look. And I think *I* know where to look.. so this is what I'd like to do...

You tell me what sort of music you like, or what you're looking for like, I dunno "fast guitar" or "bluesy and sexy" or whatever, and I'll try to find a Beatles song you can honestly say "oh..huh.. that's pretty cool!"

I get three tries... if the YouTube video I embed is not of your liking, you can refine it a bit "nah, too loud" or "hmm.. no, that's too poppy for me" or whatever... if after those 2 refinements my last guess you honestly still DON'T like.. well you win. Bastard.

Please let's not turn this into another "The Beatles suck!!" thread... if you want to tease me about that use one of the other thread, kay?

So.. who's first?

I like baroque style music.
Huh. I don't think I know enough about baroque music to identify when a song has baroque-y styles or not... could you be more specific in what you're looking for? Orchestration, no vocals...any details on what would make something baroque?

Something calming and soothing; to listen to on an hourlong drive.
Hmm.. well, there are no hour-long Beatles songs, sadly. But calming and soothing I can do.. how about:

I'll just tell you mine:

"Maxwell's Silver Hammer"

That was one of my favorite songs as a little girl. "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath was the other. I used to ask my dad to play it for me all the time.

Well, I do know that some artists took Beatles songs and put them into a baroque style, "Beatles go Baroque." was the album. But what I was looking for was lots of what would seem like piano or organ music but sharper like a harpsicord.

Oohh.. The Beatles loved their harpsichord. Dunno if that's enough to make a song "baroque", so I think I'm gonna have to use more than one try with you.. but for starters, my favorite Beatles harpsichord track:

You never responded to my post in the other Beatles thread, but I liked that song "I want you." Do they have any other stuff like that?

Well, I do like this song a lot

and it matches the fire theme

Cajella:
Something to make you feel better when you're feeling somewhat down; definitely without any relationship/women lyrics. Most feel good songs focus way too much on that sort of crap.

firestarter should work for you

Unless you watch this version:

Then you might be in really deep crap.

Man, I'm just really sorry I posted that. It's just... just so horrible.

I don't know that there's a facepalm that is facepalmy enough to capture the essence of that video...

Yellow Submarine!

But seriously, feel good songs focus on love because it's one of the biggest aspects of feeling good, and it's one everyone can relate to. The next question is this: Does "With a little help from my friends" count as a relationship/woman song?

Well, I do know that some artists took Beatles songs and put them into a baroque style, \"Beatles go Baroque.\" was the album. But what I was looking for was lots of what would seem like piano or organ music but sharper like a harpsicord.
Probably want to listen to "Because" as well :D

Not too much of a baroque style meter, but simple enough. Good to listen to for a good time to zone out

Jalecca: I'll count both as good; though technically, I'd say A Little Help from My Friends does go in the "relationship" thing.

OK, next, how about a Beatles song to help motivate me to do something I don't like doing but needs to get done? Say, do the dishes, mop the floor, whatever; something to make me think 'yeah, I'll go do that now, take my responsibility, make sure the job's done before I relax'.

I'm fond of early 90's era grunge. Bands like Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains are my favorites.

WHAT BEATLES SONG WOULD I LIKE BEST?

Huh.. not EXACTLY like it, sadly, it was (and still is to this day) a very conceptual song... but maybe you'll find a similar taste for this one:

(you're killing any Beatles fan that is forced to dissect the Abbey Road Medley, btw, you'll notice the very first notes seem cut, that's why)
