Games on SALE!

Violent Games are generally banned in Germany. Since ID told them to fuck off about making a non-violent version of their game, thus their game was banned. Other game makers tend to make a "revised" version of their game to be sold there. AKA, no blood, no gore, corpses "evaporate".

Steam has Borderlands and it's DLC on sale. $10.19 for the game, and $3.39 each for the expansions.

Also on sale at Steam:
Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood $2.49
DogFighter $8.49

Week Three of GamersGate Summer Sale has started. I don't have time for a complete list right now, but it's a lot of strategy games. Civ IV, Spellforce, Company of Heroes, Europa Universalis and a lot more.
GamersGate has a lot of crap on sale this week....But also some very, very good titles. I won't list them all, just the ones that struck my fancy :-P

Spellforce Universe
All versions of Spellforce and Spellforce 2 are on sale, but if you're going to get any of them (and they're very good games), get the Universe bundle for €10. It's both the original and the sequel, both with expansions. That's roughly 150 hours of SP playing time.

Sword of the Stars Complete Collection
Supposedly THE best 4X space game out there. I haven't played it yet, but the base game, plus all expansions, for €20? Won't find it cheaper any time soon.

THQ Complete Collection
I personally dislike THQ for the way they've handled some of their products (most notably Titan Quest, which the developers weren't allow to issue a patch for), but these packs are quite worth it. Mind that this pack is cheaper, but isn't as complete, as its Steam counterpart.

Stronghold Collection
All four of the Stronghold games for €7.50. Castle building economic/warfare sim. Very good at what it does, though they're a but love-it-or-hate-it.

Grand Ages: Rome
€5 for what boils down to Caesar V. Nice city building/strategy thingie set in Roman times. A bit of a shame they don't have the bundle with the expansion for €7.50 or something, but oh well.

Civ IV Complete Edition
Doesn't need an introduction, does it? Anyway, €10 for the game with both expansions is still a steal.

Europa Universalis III Complete Edition
€7 for the game and both expansions. A less visually attractive, less combat focussed, version of Total War. Or something. Anyway, very nice mark-off of an absolute classic.

Altitude is free to play this weekend on Steam, it's also on sale for 50%-off ($5) if you like it. I played it the last time there was a free weekend, and there's a certain charm to this 2D air combat game.

Also, the Company of Heroes games are on sale for 75%-off. From $2.50 for the first game up to $12.50 for the whole pack.

That company of heroes deal is awesome. I've wanted to play that game for a while now, but the pricing withheld me from doing so.

Telltale Games is selling an adventure game bundle to raise money for charity.
The Great Adventure Bundle 2010 $19.95
The Whispered World
Jack Keane*
King's Quest Collection (1-7)
Penny Arcade Episode 1

- Additional games unlock when more people purchase the bundle (Nelson Tethers: Puzzle Agent and Sam & Max: Season 2)
- 25% of proceeds go to charity (EFF, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Child's Play, World Wildlife Fund, Nyota e.V.)

*Good grief is Jack Keane a stinker. The voice acting is mostly awful. The interface is buggy, and feels like the designers hadn't played an adventure game since Monkey Island 2. The writing is mostly bland, and often the good bits are ruined by the voice acting.

Yeah, I played the demo for Jack Keane and it was terrible. Felt like it was trying way too hard to be a new Monkey Island. The Whispered Word looks kinda neat, though. And hey, the King's Quest Collection is groovy.

Given that they've already got almost 1,000 buys on this, I'll bet both Puzzle Agent and Sam & Max'll be a cinch.

I missed some days on the D2D Summer Ends Event, but today:
King's Bounty Gold Edition $11.25
Grand Theft Auto Collection $14.95

I'm interested too, but according to the Steam requirements, my pc can't run it
Also, I'm a pc-only player and I've heard so much bad stuff about the pc version's controls that I'm just not sure....Gah!

Hmmm. Apparently I needed to look at the requirments before I bought it. my Radeon 9660 is able to run it, but it is v e r y s l o w. :( I've been meaning to upgrade anyway (I have upgraded my system twice now while keeping the same video card). Any suggestions? I don't typically play graphic intenstive programs, and I almost never buy cutting edge games (I may make an exception with The Old Republic coming out).

Timeshift $10

What a weak offering. Maybe the new batch of $6 games tomorrow will be interesting.

Update on this bundle. The sale got extended until Sept 20th, so you can still grab it if you want to. Also, Sam & Max Season 2 unlocks tomorrow (Puzzle Agent was already added)

Also in Telltale News, Talk Like a Pirate day is coming up, so this weekend Tales of Monkey Island will be on sale for $5, "From the evening of Friday, September 17 until early morning Monday, September 20 (Pacific Time)". That is a great price of an awesome game. Don't miss out if you're an adventure game fan.
