NaNoWriMo

i won't do Nano this year. I'm in the middle of a writiing project that I'm putting about 2-3K words a week into. Maybe the fact that I'm in the middle of Nano will spur me to write a little more (since I have a little over 50K words or so to hit the wrap up point), but I'm really expecting to be done more around Jan or Feb.

I wonder if I could "novelize" Fade here. It would help me plot out the story more. It wouldn't really be pre-written prose, since it's not in prose form, though it might not adhere to the spirit of the challenge.

Seeing so much interest here is kinda inspiring me to do NaNo again. I told myself the last time I did it if I didn't get to 50K I was going to give up writing -- instead I just gave up on NaNoWriMo.

Plus that spreadsheet is pretty awesome. So yeah... I think I might have to participate this year :)

I did it before, and I know I don't have time this year.

Was fun, though, and got a free print of my book from lulu.

I've actually had a few people buy it and say kind things about it too.

Complete rubbish, of course, but now I can say, "Oh yes, I'm also a novelist!"

I can't wait to read more. You've got a great one going!

I don't know if this is the appropriate thread for it, but I should mention that our own LyingBastard (is he still around here?) is a published author, and at least one of his books got high praise from a well-known author (on her blog, but it's better than nowhere) very recently.

So is ThatNickGuy, although I think Nick's is online (mostly) and short stories as opposed to a novel. Nick has also done write-ups for a magazine.

Though I'm not participating in Nano, i decided to take a look at that spreadsheet after you guys raved about it. It's pretty darn cool...so I'm using it for myself. I love the pie chart at the top to give you a sense of how far you've come. It's very inspiring to plug you word counts in every day, and see if you're on track or not.
