Who's going to the Texas Renaissance Festival?

Nov 7th is my birthday, and I have a tradition of going to the Texas Renaissance Festival my birthday weekend.

Vytamindi implied she'd be going that weekend in another thread, so I thought it might be cool to see if anyone else was going that weekend too. It'd be a cool birthday present to meet some of you folks and say hi and drink a few beers (or mead) at the Sea Devil!

Whaaaaaaaaa!!!! I am NOT going... I wish I was!! But because of it being the week before our first choir performance, I cannot.... I am so sad!!!!

:Cry::Cry: Added for emphasis of this new development of how sad I am!!!!

Maron and I might be able to go. It is interesting we'll have to see how much money we have budget for.

Vytamindi, I feel your pain. I think it's just me, Iaculus, Biardo and Bubble on this side of the Atlantic while almost everybody else is there in the United States :( Which means that I at least can't come; the travelling alone would cost me an arm and a leg, plus maybe a slice of pancreas.

Get thy asses to the Medieval Market of Turku someday, ye foreign-dwelling varlets!

I had been thinking of posting some sort of interest check for maybe a halforum texas meet or something, but uhhh. I'm not interested in a ren festival.

Never been to Texas...

...or to a Ren Fest...even though theres one in my hometown annually...is that sad?

There's a fairly big one in Norman, OK every year. The whole time I was there for my undergrad, I never went to it. Some said it was a waste of time. Others said it was a complete waste of time. (Conan ref, ftw!)

I wonder if I've ever walked right past some of you. Odd thought. I went every year in grad school.

I'm trying to remember what year I went. 2001, maybe? My friends talked me into going. The three of them were in costume, and I was not. (One of them went on to work at one of the shops for the rest of that season, and possibly again after that.) Despite feeling momentarily awkward for being the only one in modern clothes, I had a really good time. I'd go back again, but my health makes walking around for even a few hours difficult.

*coughs and also points at Ame*

Ren-Faires sound pretty fun, although I've never been to one. Although we do have the 1st of April in my parents' hometown and the 3rd of October where I study, which is when we celebrate the liberation of those towns from the Spaniards around the end of the 16th century. I guess that sorta counts as a Ren-Faire? A lotta people dress the part, anyway.

I'd go down to meet you weirdos if I could have the time off and if Sunoco hadn't stolen every penny out of my wife's bank account. We're seeing what can be done to rectify this situation, btw.

Well, I think that we've come to the conclusion that nobody else from hf is going :(

But I'll still be there on the 7th, and I'll raise a pint to you all

Wish i could, but I have no money after my recent trip. I have a lot of friends who go to both that one and the one that takes place someplace in Louisiana. It would be interesting to see even though that stuff isn't exactly my thing.

My wife and I thought about going, but not much money and no place to stay.

At least you have a decent number of Europeans. I think I can count all the posters from Asia on one hand. :(

Not to mention Andi/Dragonherz, Mathk242, and that German guy, I forget his name. And Ame.

Huh. I just realized this is the only forum I've ever been on without Brittish people. We need more Brits.
