Going to meet Woody freaking Harrelson

My university (York) is handing out some honourary degrees to half a dozen people. One of them is Woody Harrelson.

As thanks for the award, he's allowing students a screening of his next movie, Defendor (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1303828/). And guess who got one of those tickets? :D

I'm not sure if I'll actually have a chance to say anything to him, but if I do, I'm going to do what I plan doing should I meet ANY actor: rather than gush about the greatest movies that they've been that everyone knows about, I want to mention some little thing that always enterained me.

In this case, it was an episode of Cheers where Woody had wrote a song for his fiance. It was basically just her name over and over. I don't know why, but that always cracked me up.

I was just going to say, you have to ask him a question about Cheers.

It's like my goal of getting on the view to ask Whoopi questions about Star Trek continuity.

Heh, I could just tell him that I loved Zombieland; except for the fact that it's not a zombie movie. :p

Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, K-E-L-L-Y - Why? Because you're Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly

I dated a girl in H.S. named Kelly. I am quite familiar with that song.

As for meeting Harrelson, that's cool. Tell him Zombieland kicked ass, even though you don't think so.

I've met a few celebs. I've always walked away pretty underwhelmed. They're just regular dudes/dudettes. I guess I thought it would be different. None are nearly as cool as their characters. I guess I was a bit naive when I met them.

James Doohan was an exception. He was totally nice. Very sweet old man. He was extremely gracious and personable. He spent a lot of extra time talking with me. I will always remember that. RIP, Scotty.

Dude, I DID think Zomieland kicked ass. I just didn't think it was a zombie movie. I really don't want to start this argument again.

Hm. The more I think about it, the less I think the Kelly song would be all that obscure. And he's probably sick of hearing about Cheers.

My only other brush with celebrity was talking with Greg Rucka (one of my favourite writers) on the phone when I worked a call centre.

Well, didn't get a chance to meet him. He said a few words about the movie, helped read the numbers off for some door prizes (his book) and that was it.

Defendor, on the other hand? Freaking awesome. I think it ranks right up there with Unbreakable. Really hope it gets a theatre release, now.
