I always liked Frollo, too. He's a good bad guy because he's not all evil. Disney rarely throws out a villain who's somewhat forgivable, but this is it. He's complex. He did the right thing for Quasimodo, and you know that he did it for the right reasons deep down. He acknowledges his desire for the divine and the carnal. He aspires to this greater good, and loses sight of what it means. He's that awesome sort of bad guy who is truly sinister, but doesn't know it. He's torn in spite of himself.

Also, Robin Hood is my son's favorite Disney movie.

You know what I miss? When sequels to Disney classics where something they would put feature film effort into. Remember The Rescuers Down Under? I felt that film surpassed the original *ducks the incoming barrage of fruit*. None of this direct-to-video crap.
It was written well, animated superbly, and even featured a totally new villain who scared the crap out of me as a kid. McLeech for the win.

The Rescuers is only notable because it was the only Disney movie with actual nudity.

And what. No love for the Jungle Book at all?

If the animals not wearing clothing is considered nudity I think that puts every single Disney flick in the category.

Ooh. Thought of another completely underrated film that I adore.
The Great Mouse Detective.
It's even got a scene of a mouse in lingerie that Fun Size probably enjoyed. :D

He's referring to the one frame where someone in the animation department had a poster of a naked woman. It has since been removed.

I don't consider those artist jokes as part of the actual film. My favorite joke is the detailed penis that was drawn into the original VHS box cover for Little Mermaid. It's like right there and it took them a while to actually notice.

I have the original Little Mermaid box as well as the unremastered Rescuers Down Under with the centerfold on the wall of the mechanics.

Gotta love the person who went through every frame of that film looking for something to prove that Disney is dirty.
I wonder where he is now.

I liked Mulan a lot. One of the only times in the 90's and beyond I found Eddie Murphy funny and the songs are great.
I like his Donkey a lot too. Murphy's place is in voice acting. He tries to prove us wrong by dressing up like half the cast of a film, but he's just pretending to be a cartoon character using make-up.
Just go the way of Shatner, Eddy. You'll never pull off Coming to America ever again.

I really like the song I'll Make a Man Out of You, but I think most of the rest of Mulan is rubbish.

Hunchback of Notre Dame - the one Disney movie where the Finnish translation is completely top-notch, even keeping the lyrics as terrifying and disturbing as in the original. I still get the chills when I hear the Bells of Notre Dame or Hellfire...

- The fan subtitles are a little crappy, but the song... beautiful.

Mulan - great movie, great plot, great music... and I loved how the animators tried to emulate Chinese art in the animation.

Funny thing about Treasure Planet; when I went to see it in the movies, I was the only one who was in the theatre. It might say something about the movie's reception... but then again, the same happened when I went to see Iron Man :p

Hunchback, Lion King and Mulan are probably the best, although there's plenty others that are great. Treasure Planet was also amazing. I've been wanting to see a movie in that setting (whoever derided the setting for "not making sense" is totally missing the point) for a long time, and it delivered just fine.

Know what makes me really sad though? Yesterday I saw the SPECIAL EDITION for 101 Dalmations 2.

God, NR, I'd forgotten how great the opening song was for Hunchback!

Thanks for posting that!

Finnish is so pretty...
Awwww, thanks ^_^

Oiiii, kiitos ^_^

And here's some more animation film music. Ladies and gentlemen... Prince of Egypt.
Ja tässä hieman lisää piirroselokuvamusiikkia. Naiset ja herrat... Egyptin prinssi.

What I find amazing that Ofra Haza, the Israeli singer who sang the role of Yocheved, Moses's mother, also sang her lines in Finnish - and in sixteen other languages. What's more amazing is that her Finnish pronunciation is nigh perfect. Only a slight 'twang', the way she sings from the back of her throat, reveals she's not a native speaker. But you don't notice it unless you're really looking for it.

I'm telling you, when I first saw this... I was scared as hell. Ain't no Disney movie, that's for sure...
Kun ensi kerran näin tämän... säikähdin ihan helkkaristi. Ei todellakaan mikään Disney-elokuva, ei...
