A Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to driving his motorized La-Z-Boy chair while drunk. A criminal complaint says 62-year-old Dennis LeRoy Anderson told police he left a bar in the northern Minnesota town of Proctor on his chair after drinking eight or nine beers.
Prosecutors say Anderson's blood alcohol content was 0.29, more than three times the legal limit, when he crashed into a parked vehicle in August 2008. He was not seriously injured.
Police said the chair was powered by a converted lawnmower and had a stereo and cup holders.
Sixth Judicial District Judge Heather Sweetland stayed 180 days of jail time Monday and ordered two years of probation for Anderson. His attorney, David Keegan, did not immediately return a call for comment.

So... ether Al Bundy or Tim Taylor lives in Minnisota now, or Red Green was visiting the US for some reason.
I'm am completely amazed that you even know of Red Green.
I don't watch it as much as I used to, but we do get Red Green in the US on PBS. Actually, I'll have to see if it's still on the air... it's been 5 or more years since I've seen an episode.
I've met Steve Smith, he's a really easygoing and humble guy.

When all else fails, play dead.

Also, it apparently had it's finale in 06.
...What? oh man... that makes me really sad. :(

Duct tape!
It was on the air for 15 years and stayed fresh for a long time. It's time was up, but at least it didn't get canceled.
True... but still. Man im going to have to break out Duct Tape Forever tonight.

I love the red green show. We still get reruns here on PBS because it's such a popular show in in Michigan.

Red occasionally shows up during the fundraising times to get people to donate so the red green show can stick around, and it obviously works.

I never really watched Red Green but I saw a couple random episodes from the time to time, wasn't really my cup of tea but if I watched it now maybe it would be alright. I saw it when I was like 14 or 15 on PBS.

It actually kinda did get canceled.

Throughout it's lifetime, the Red Green Show was on three different networks.

. . . well, it actually started as a show on a local independent TV station in Hamilton, Ontario (just West of Toronto/Buffalo). I can't remember the details now, but it went on to one of the national networks (CBC or Global) and then later on to the other. I seem to recall it being off the air for a year at some point during that time, but I can't be sure.

At some point during all that time, PBS picked it up for broadcast in the states. I remember thinking "How the fuck did this show become their telethon cash cow?" (I never used the word "smurf" back then)

Note: None of this should be viewed as fact. Just fragments of my booze-addled brain.
