Ringo and Scott were really great friends. Ringo's death..it really hit Scott hard, like a lot of people. Scott had just seen him recently at a convention, their booths were near each other, then not long after that, Ringo passed away..

Prior to Ringo dying, some places like Wizard, barely recognized his work. Now whether or not you think he was talented, thats your opinion I don't know, I think he was, Wizard..didnt really think much of him. BUT..as soon as he died and they saw the large pouring of emotion from the comic book & web comic communities..well they latched onto that quicker than a 10.0 CGC comic.. They named a comic panel after him, all kinds of shit whereas prior to his death, they never gave him the time of day.

Meanwhile, Scott, Waid, Quesada, a lot of the comic communities, etc started up the Mike Weiringo College Fund, which from what I've seen, has done decent at earning money for others in his name, a true honoring of his lifes work.

I mean Scott..handled this poorly, but I can understand why. He lost a great friend, one he was close to and this company shit all over him (Ringo).

Though, this letter is batshit stupid, and posting it on pvponline.com..well lets just say Scott needs to stick to mentioning twitter every post
Artist dies and his work increases in value... That's NEVER EVER happened before in the history of mankind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems like a weird thing to get butthurt about.

At any rate, he's a tastemaker.

Holy shit that's hilarious. "You looked in the mirror and made it blue" LOL!

Man, I really miss it when teh Kurtz would come in an comment on stuff like this. I've been a PVP fan since the Imagecomics days. I've met the guy a few times at the SDCC and he's nice.

He's nice because he wants you to buy his garbage. God forbid you want to shake his hand.

I too am a tastemaker. I make all kinds of tastes.

Okay, most of them fall between "salty" and "sweaty", but what do you want from me?

No wonder we are such a negative group, when he was our nominal leader and taskmaster, err... tastemaker for so long.

Really is is a bit embarrassing that we used to follow his posts.

I, uh, I actually heard the word "tastemaker" on TV tonight. Community. Character referred to himself as that. I'm gonna say that's Kurt's doing, that he really is the trend-setter as he said, but with a smurfed up word.
