I was more in the College Scene/Post Punk/Industrial scene. I was mostly hitting the clubs in Houston, Dallas, Austin, College Station, then the College Towns/small cities through East Texas. The Alternative Clubs drew the larger crowds and more interesting people and music than the more pop oriented places. I guess the influence of Numbers was huge here.

I was well away from the college scene by then. I was hitting clubs with half naked chicks who were grinding and probably snorting coke in the bathroom. So it seems that it was a regional thing.

One thing you'll note, though, the stuff played where I went is still being played in clubs. Madonna, Michael, etc may have been pop-ish but they are fun to dance to, memorable and evoke a memory of "better times".

I grew up in Houston.

I've been to Numbers.

I've heard them play Madonna there.

Ok, I can't honestly recall if I've ever heard them play Madonna there..but everything else is true ;) Most clubs in Houston around that time did play Madonna though.

On the flight this afternoon I listened to The Fame and The Fame Monster and totally was dancing in my seat since I was in the absolute last row in the back and the old lady next to me couldn't say shit since she was reading some book about the Left Hand Mystique Theory and she kept pointing her left hand at shit and I was like curling my hand above my head and twisting it like in the Bad Romance video I wonder if anyone turned around during the flight that would have been awkward.

Well she did say it was really small. In some cases, I think the penis can be underdeveloped, so it might be really easy to hide. Either way, like Charlie says, who cares?
