PA Reality Show!

I have exciting news to share! A while back we talked about a reality show based on life here at Penny Arcade. It was just something we kicked around during a podcast but the idea stuck with us. We kept getting mail from people saying that this was actually something they'd be interested in. Eventually we decided to partner with 2 Player Productions and actually do it. So now we have camera guys here in the office filming us make strips, play game and eat lunch. They also followed us around during PAX and they will be at the CP charity dinner. I'm super proud to announce that the pilot episode is now available. You can watch the two part pilot episode right here on the newly designed PATV page.

So watch the pilot and let us know what you think. Drop us a mail or hit the forum, we'd love to know what you think. Our plan is to release two episodes like this per month. You'll be able to watch them all right here on the site. I know we're hard to look at in our human form but if you can stomach it, I think the show is pretty interesting.

I'm just starting the first episode now, but I am HELL excited. I love the podcasts and I look forward to more of these episodes.

Running Thoughts:

Man I've seen pictures of Mike and Jerry before, and heard their voices on LOTS of podcasts, but I will never be able to reconcile Mike's appearance and voice. It seems like an odd combo.

I am SO glad I'm going to PAX in 2010.

I want Jerry's voice. I want it so hard.

I am totally in love with these guys. If I go to PAX I can probably see/meet them, and maybe even Kris Straub. I need a Halforums shirt and a portable console first. :p

Jerry seems kinda nervous to be on "TV".

This whole first part of the episode seems like a Press Kit. But I guess the viewing public will probably have no idea what PA is all about so it's cool.

Hahahah, Part 2 begins with Jerry's wife giving birth the first day of PAX 09, and Steve Kuntz comments on it. :)

So Kurtz fills in for him on the panel. ...Nice.

"You just gotta make sure the baby doesn't die." "Yeah. You played the Sims right? Three days, that's it." :rofl:

Awww that guy got all choked up! :)

Child's Play is checkmate, sir. These guys are great. I don't even read the comic much anymore, but I still think they're awesome for what they do.

I found this earlier this morning and almost made a thread about it. I just have one snide comment and that's it. What is up with Gabe's teeth?

Other than that, awesome videos to watch.

Also, I guess its cute that guy got choked up. Or something...

It's really interesting seeing those two making it do, and I'll be checking in with them in the future.

Yeah, what Mike & Jerry have done with their comic is astounding. They stepped in at just the right time and made themselves an anchor for a culture that really needed one. It's great to see what they've done with Child's Play and PAX.

This is awesome. Just watched the first two episodes, and I'm quite impressed. But then again, they don't really half-ass anything, do they?

I loved in the first part talking about how Penny Arcade should not have worked. They really are the freaks of the medium. A behind the scenes video series about any other webcomic - even comics I like - would likely be met with great skepticism from me. But I can't wait to see where this goes.

Did anyone read the comments section at Daily Cartoonist last month. It was a discussion on newspaper comics vs. web comics and Mike is telling the group how you can make a living on the web. The editiorial cartoonist kept coming back with the same old "I have 30,000,000 readers" line and Mike came back with "I make a seven figure income and that's just my share. My partner makes the same income." That effectively shut up the editorial cartoonist. Not to be outdone Kurtz came in and said "I made $15,000 in October of last month." Guess that doesn't pack the same punch coming after the PA guys announcing their multi million dollar business but it's still solid.
And, yes, the PA guys are amazing.

Nooooooooo, i don't want to be someone that watches reality TV and enjoys it (for anything besides the hilarious inanity)...

h, I watched that when it came out. I want to work there but I dislike being the dumbest guy in the office. But I would LOVE it there!
