For liquor drinks it depends on the season. Spring and summer I'm all for the lighter drinks like gin and tonic(with Bombay Sapphire gin) or a Bacardi mojito. Maybe martini if it is the evening. The colder months I'll go for Jack on the rocks, an Old fashioned, or nurse a glass of Jameson.

Beer, Guinness preferably in the cooler months, and any summer ale from Sweetwater like 420 and Georgia Brown.

I'm not too picky when it comes to wines, however, I do enjoy a good merlo or cabernet sauvignon. A good port with a tasty desert is always a fun way to end a meal.

Hoegaarden is awesome. Hard to find on tap, sadly. :([/QUOTE]

Try Celis White. It's brewed in America, so easier to find and cheaper, by the original brewer of Hoegaarden, to the original recipe, while actual Hoegaarden these days is liquified cardboard in comparison (I like whites, but H isn't one of the best anymore).

I'm the same way about wanting more fruity taste than alcohol taste. I almost always get a cranberry & vodka. I've been be able to enjoy the taste of beer.

Now: Iced tea, sweetened.

Then, in Canada: Kokanee Gold, any Amber ales, Paralyzers, Peach Malibu, White Zinfandel.

Then, in Switzerland: Löwenbräu

Then, in Peru: lots of Pisco, pisco sours, oi.

I drink primarily rum, myself. I'm big on Captain Morgan and Sailor Jerry. I like it with citrus.

Otherwise, I'll do vodka or tequila...but I stay the hell away from gin and beer, not a HUGE fan of whiskey or bourbon but I'll drink 'em, liqueurs are okay, but you need a LOT of 'em to get schnockered and I'm quite poor...

So...yeah. Rum. Arrrr! :)

The closest thing to milk that you will find in a bar, will be the half and half for the White Russians. If they serve any food, you may be able to land a milk. So you will most likely have to drink Coke, Sprite or Coors Light.

This is such a great thread. I've found oh so many more things to try from it.

I do have to say that if you're in Northern New York, you have to stop by a Wegmans for the beer selection. I fell to my knees and bowed my head when I saw it. Yeah, it's that epic.

Rum drinks are my favorite....

But now I am in the habit....Everytime I watch an episode of Dexter..I must have a rum and Passion fruit drink. It has turned into a sick little ritual. I am working on getting a goblet to truely enjoy the moment..:)

If we were to ever have a halforum meet, I propose we have it at a bar. Somewhere in America where it wouldn't be overly difficult for everyone to travel to.

Beer: My favorite is Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout (and other varieties), Guinness, Shiner varieties (NOT smokehaus = nasty), some Sam Adams (Boston, Cream Stout, Octoberfest), I like Blvd Lunar Ale, but I am open to trying just about any beer, especially micro/local brews.

Mixed drinks: I like white russians and mojitos. Whiskey sours are okay. I usually don't drink liquor straight. Bad things happen when I do. Terrible things. I typically don't drink hard liquor in any form. I just like beer way better.

Wine: I went on a tasting in Napa this summer, and I realized I don't really care for wine. There were some desert wines that were tasty. I guess I liked Pinot Grigio the best. I didn't like hardly any red wine.

Usually I'm into stouts and a proper scottish or irish whisky to finish a nice evening.

I have recently rediscovered my taste for a black russians, but I tend to be pretty open to trying new drinks.

When it comes to beer I usually go for something like a Harringtons Clydesdale Stout. Actually the darker stouts are pretty good in general.

It is not really that big. Then again, I shop there every week so it is normal for me.

Wines... not much of a wine drinker, but I have a bottle of Malvasia waiting for a special occasion.
I don't do mixed drinks, but when I was younger and trying to build up at least minimal level of alcohol tolerance, I drank Koskenkorva (a Finnish vodka) mixed with Coca-Cola.

Most of the time, though, I drink coke or ginger ale.

I had my first brandy old fashioned, sweet, the other day. Pretty tasty.

My 89 year old great aunt has had a Manhattan every day that I've known her with her dinner. She easily looks 20 years younger than she is.
