2010 = the best year for sci-fi? Upcoming movies (includes non sci-fi)

Watched the trailer for Repo Men and I'm pretty sure I'd plunk down a Hamilton for that. Iron Man 2 for sure, and I'm curious about the new Nightmare on Elm Street as the original is the first horror movie I remember seeing.

Legion looks so horrible. I'm not sure if being drunk will save it. I'm probably willing to find out though.
The first time I saw a trailer, I was laughing my ass off. That part with the grandma and the dislocated-jaw guy, galloping towards them like some kind of ape on crack... ridiculous.

I know it's not on this list, but is it just me, or does Daybreakers have pretty much the same plot as Blade Trinity? You know, ugly supervampires evolve to eat regular ones?
If there evolving such because there is a blood shortage, and I'm assuming thus, then it should be way more interesting then "We wanted to make vampires more awesomer and it backfired."

Daybreakers makes Blade Trinity look like a fucking Kubrick film. It's probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It's only redeeming feature is some really unintentional comedy.

There's not a chance in hell I'd give Legion any kind of funds for a possible sequel/more movies of its sort.

Repeat after me: Angels do not use guns. It worked for Dogma cause it was a ridiculous comedy. Legion is supposed to be action.
I dunno, there was a 2007 movie called Gabriel involving angels and guns, and I thought it was all right. Though I realize my taste in movies is rather juvenile.

(Hmm, IMDB gives Gabriel 5.4 stars)

This is disappointing. I was looking forward to Daybreakers being awesome, but I knew it couldn't be.

I saw the long trailer for Legion at the beginning of District 9 last night. I don't see the problem. It doesn't look great, but it doesn't look any worse than about half the movies people praise on this forum. You know what it looks like? A live action anime.

Strike one: It honestly looks and feels like Underworld from the trailer. Those movies sucked.

Strike two: I've seen the angels thing done before and done much, much better in comic books.

Yes, because usually those are holy weapons used in a holy war.

"But I'm a fucking demon" ring any bells?

*waits for: "Maybe the uzi's were sanctified"*

Aren't they angels fighting against angels? I'm not sure sanctifying would mean anything.

The whole thing is just dumb as all hell. If anyone wants an interesting angels vs angels thing, read Lucifer by Michael Carey.

That's just it escushion, I actually like the premise of angels vs demons/angels, with weapons of "lore". Not bloody semi-automatic weapons.

It could have easily had a mixture of "Drag Me to Hell" silly gore/violence, with some epic battles tossed in.

If they're really using Uzis against each other, then it's more Underworld than I had thought.

And I agree, it did sound really cool when I first heard of it, but that trailer, and... I'm skipping it. Maybe I'll rent it someday, although I'm sure my younger brother will see it and think it's the most awesome thing he's ever seen, and get the DVD, so I'll probably see it that way eventually. And hear about it more than I care to.

Yet heavenly weapons always seem to be in line with what people used to fight with at the time.

People had flaming swords?!

Seriously, if you're gonna use modern day weapons at least make them special in some way...

I thought that was a thing that actually happened. Like dipping arrows/swords in oil and lighting them sumbitches.

Not to mention that even though many knights wore plated mail armor, they also wore tabbards or some piece of cloth. Being struck by a flaming blade might not damage the plated mail, but it set their clothing on fire.

Whoah whoah whoah, the fuck is RepoMen?

Ahh, I remember hearing about the shitstorm this movie was making because of the title. It looks pretty decent though!

I don't get the "Angels don't use guns" bit? Why? According to what? I actually never understood what makes a gun evil and a sword holy either. I mean, both are designed to make you dead, right?

Also: Cross gun beats angel gun anyday:

Damn... I hope Michael Bay doesnt enter this thread.

Otherwise we might get movies with flaming bazookas and uzis.

You mean awesome bazookas and awesome uzis?
And flaming bullets!!!![/QUOTE]

And maybe when they hit the guy, after he's done jerking around as he's getting hit, he'll look down at the fiery holes in him and grin like "ha, is that all?"

And then the guy shooting him makes this smug smirk and the guy who was shot stops grinning, and then the bullets explode him into a hundred flaming pieces.

Let's see....

Iron Man 2: A crappy sequel to a laughably bad movie

Legion: Supernatural with all the good sucked out and replaced with ZoMG GUNS AND EXPLOSIONS

Inception; I'll give it a shot

Lovely Bones: Pete Jackson is hack and I hope this movie fails

Daybreakers: No. Too many vampire movies.

Repo-men: Ahhh Jude Law, the poor man's Hugh Grant. This looks like a rip-off of Repo!

Red Dawn: No...just no.

Priest: Never saw the stuff it's based on, will reserve judgement

Jonah Hex: This is either going to be AWESOME or a cluster-fuck of epic proportions. I think it's the part of me screaming for a Deadlands movie that wants this to win.

Book of Eli: Hell yes. Post-Apocalyptic madness with Denzel going Man-on-fire crazy? Woo!

Has nothing to do with evil. Has to do with the fact that a gun is ineffective against the supernatural, though a "blessed" blunt/sharp object has the power to destroy it.

I can add WolfofOdin to the list of people that I will do the exact opposite of when it comes to film reviews/opinions.

:p S'alright Shego. I'm the first to admit I'm INSANELY picky when it comes to movies and I generally dislike comic book adaptations as a whole. Hell, I haven't even seen Dark Knight for that reason.

Take my own opinion?

I never said that you would now have influence over my movie choices, I'm saying that you won't have any at all, where previously I thought you a well informed and well thought out critic and a misconception I had over a film might be overlooked due to something you may have had to say on the subject.
