Oscar Nominations coming Tuesday morning!

Start prepping the gasoline, then. I think the odds are like... 6trillion to one.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaactually most prognosticators think Hurt Locker is going to win. It's swept every award that's voted on by the same people that vote on Best Picture (the guilds). Not that that stopped Titanic from beating LA Confidential, but I like to be hopeful.

And I take my comments on Jay and put them out to the Academy :( Fantastic Fox should win and deserves a best picture slot over Up :[

But also, 500 days didn't even get nominated for screenplay.

I'm gonna rent 500 Days solely because I want to see this guy's work before he makes the next Spider-man.

We don't have TV right now and I've never used Hulu. Will we be able to watch the Oscars on it?

What face did Cameron make when The Hurt Locker was announced?

Avatar > Hurt Locker by a mile. It was a disappointing decision.

Really Sheg? I loved both, I mean, I really liked Avatar but the Hurt Locker was by far, in my book, a more solid film. Avatar was boatloads of fun and visual cool but it just can't compare to THL in terms of storytelling and acting IMO. Why do you think Avatar deserved it more?

To be totally open here: I still think A Serious Man was the best movie of last year.:p

I felt that Avatar was an inferior film compared to District 9 and Inglorius Basterds (though it's still in my top ten films of the year) Sure it was visually amazing, but the story was Ferngully for mature audiences. Not exactly Best Picture material in my opinion. I have never seen Hurt Locker, so I can't say for sure if it deserved it over the other films.

Oh and belated

OMG!! SHEGO'S BACK?!!

YAY Shego's return! =D

Avatar got all the wins in the categories it deserved. Given that there was a list of ten, I think it deserved a nomination at best, but that was it. Happy to hear for most of the winners, honestly.

I'm glad Clooney didn't win, though. I just watched Up in the Air tonight and...honestly? Meh. I'm just not a fan of Clooney. He doesn't bring anything unique to most roles (aside from Burn After Reading, and even then...). It's just basically Clooney starring as Clooney.

It was nice to see the reverse Kanye moment... WTF? was up with that producer?

Does Stiller do the awards show bombs on purpose? It was like he was doing the anti-joke.

I thought Stiller's bit was hilarious! The fact that what he said meant, "This was a better idea in rehearsal!" and the moment with the fishing pole were excellent. I still don't know if the fishing pole thing was scripted or if Stiller just did that on his own. He had to rip it from the hand of the guy standing on the ladder trying hard not to be seen.

And look! There's George Clooney...

It made me laugh too!. The "this is much cooler thank spock ears..." trail-off cracked me up. Now, it did kind of go on for a while.

"I was going to wear my pair of Spock ears signed by Leonard Nemoy, but that would have been nerdy."

Come on! That's comedy GOLD!

Plus he made James Cameron look uncomfortable when he went on and on and ON with the Na'vi language. That was funny, too.

the glare was the punchline.[/QUOTE]

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I thought you meant the "WHO ELSE IS HERE!?!" part. Never mind, move along...

That was great, though. Every time they got shots of Clooney, he looked bored unless someone was praising him.

Except for when he was bobbing his head like a chicken to the music.

Best moment was the foreign language guy thanking them for not considering Nav'i a foreign language. Ice burn.

That part was great! I didn't hear any laughs from the audience, though. I also loved Sandra Bullock's acceptance speech. It was very sweet and funny.

I figured as much that the Hurt Locker will win. Box office busts always tend to win these type of shows anyways. I guess I'll go join the other 5 million people out there who'll torrent the movie later on tonight and join the 5000 people who watched the movie. :p

Oscars were fucken long, can they please kill the 2 hours of FLUFF in the middle? I kept switching back to the hockey game every few minutes while the shit awards were being handed out. At least they made an effort every once in awhile with a little comedic bit or performance.

Did anyone else think the actors praising the hell of the nominees kinda disturbing? I mean, wow. The only one I liked was the Morgan Freeman's one. Nice delivery.

I loved the intro, Steve Martin and Baldwin were great. I loved the bit where they talked about the nominees. My favorite was by far and beyond "You were looking for Jews? Well, here you are." *opens arms*

I almost choked on my coffee.

That's because suddenly everyone is terrified of upsetting James Cameron, so no one wanted to laugh at his expense. Sacha Baron Cohen apparently had an Avatar parody skit scheduled, but they nixed it out of fear of offending Cameron.

On what Jay said: yeah, it's too fucking long. We didn't watch, but I checked the winning list an hour and a half after it started and couldn't believe they'd only done 6 awards so far. I checked again after 11 and there were still 5 awards to go.
