Yesterday I went to my local comic store and was in for a wonderful surprise. My issues of Walking Dead finally all came in. I've been paying these off for a while now and they finally all came in.

Trade issues 1-10, then I can start getting caught upon the new ones.

I read issues 1-4 last night and will more than likely finish my first read-through tonight while I'm mining in EvE.

I'm a little annoyed that it starts by ripping off 28 Days Later, but I got over that pretty fast.

Holy fuck. I just got past the Governor arc. I don't know if I want to read any more.

I assure you, things only get worse from that point on. However, things are looking somewhat up in the current issue. You just know the shit's going to hit the fan, but at least they'll be getting a break for a little while.

If I recall correctly, Kirkman has actually not seen 28 Days Later, or at least hadn't back when he first started writing the series. There's that and a few other scenes that are largely coincidences.

Yeah dude, it wasn't ripping off anything, the "wakes up in an empty city" was not done first by 28 days later, it's been done lots and lots of times but lots of mediums.

Yes but a guy waking up from a coma to find the population had turned to zombies comes out 1 year later. Seems coincidental.

Day of the Triffids?

I mean, they ain't zombies, but the thematic similarities are definitely there.

Sorry Dave... that YOU personally made the connection doesn't mean it was ripping 28 days later off.

Kirkman has gone on record saying he had done it more as a homage to the omega man, which he loved as a kid. Which, by the way, I'm pretty sure Danny Boyle has mentioned as inspiration too.
