Wasn't sure if this went in Media Madness or not, so here it be!

We have our roots in PvP so I wanted to get an opinion here:

How is this comic in any way whatsoever funny? http://www.pvponline.com/comics/pvp20100310.png

Like... Oh noes, you've spent money on your games... HILARITY!

Yoda doesn't even speak consistently..

In lieu of this bashing, I wanted to say that many of his strips have made me laugh recently. ReTweet and Lolbat are fun, and the Starsky and Hutch comics are funny too. The strip where they flinched at Jade made me laugh a bit.

But c'mon, this one is awful.

I see where he was going but it just isn't funny. Not to mention the subjects not really go together that well. It feels like he wanted to make a comment on how much money people spend on game transaction and than thought "oh yeah I need to draw in more geeks. I know lets add a Star Wars reference that will draw them in!"

I think it is more in line with these games are "the dark side" which has no good value of it and yet people spend tons of money on them. You must face this dark forces and overcome by NOT spending money on these frivolous things........ still not funny.

Philosopher B.

That is some of the worst Yoda dialogue I have ever read.

The money one I'm willing to chalk up to just being a miss, but this one ( http://www.pvponline.com/2010/03/09/selling-for-peanuts/ ) just makes me groan.

Dear Scott Kurt,

We get it. You <3 the internet and h8 newspapers. Even though people still make money off of print comics they are apparently all assholes in your eyes and all wrong. The internet is the only way to make a comic. Ever.

Stay classy,

--- Everyone who has ever encountered you ever.

Which is retarded, since PVP is a gaming comic.

I think he was trying to tap into the demograph that complains everytime an MMO or game company makes a pay for service in additon to the cost of the game. Everytime a new vanity pet or service is previewed for WoW people moan on the forums on how blizzard are greedy and are putting everything in their store now that they know it will make money.

I found his concept amusing but the panel where Yoda nolonger speaks like Yoda kinda kill the mood of it for me.

It's not. There's no punchline. Yoda says, "Face the money you've spent" and the last panel is... the money he spent.

I don't think it was meant to be funny - it's not unlike those newspaper ones where the cartoon is essentially propaganda or commentary.

The funny thing is that this is pretty much an editorial cartoon - and he and straub have lampooned editorial cartoons quite a bit. Yet here he is, essentially creating an editorial cartoon.

But, really, who cares? Do you hit home runs every day in your endeavors?

Declaration of artist's talent.

Choice between two sandwhich-related restaurants.

Sudden realization that I'm in the wrong thread.

Maybe it's supposed to be funny because it's ridiculous...

And yet the one from yesterday (Coke Blocked) was almost old-school PvP and was kinda funny.

Skull acting like old Skull again!

I'd make some tangentially related post here about Yoda's dialogue, but I think Phil called me out on it in the Thread Thread. :(

.

I get it. But the joke would have been better if he pulled up a bank account statement with the actual outrageous amount or something... It's just a bad comic.

I don't get it.

Did something go wrong with iPad pre-orders? Is Brent upset that he ordered one, or that Cole is asking? I guess the joke is "hilarious over-reaction" but I have no idea what the reaction is about.

I'm guessing an iPad was somehow involved in a joke on the Office.
