Well, I'm pretty sure that threatening to kill anyone is illegal. With the president, especially a president who has incited such anger among the populace, the authorities tend to take this kind of thing seriously.

Moral of the story: don't threaten to kill the president. It shouldn't be hard.

True while it should be common sense, but sometimes people post of forums or chat jokingly cause either in a debate or something like that.

You know how some people talk smack online without regards.

It is considered plotting against the president. If only the Oklahoma bomber had posted such messages to such publicly visible forums prior to his attack...

But notice that those are the maximum limits, and only given when the person poses a true threat. I would be surprised to see this guy get the limit, unless there is evidence that it was more than idle words.

It is illegal to threaten to kill the president. People who do it are stupid and deserve to be at least talked to by the authorities.

If you have big enough balls to say, "I'm going to kill the President!" you better have a lawyer with big enough balls to go to bat for you. And that goes for ANY President of any party.

Oh and if anyone does it here I will work with authorities fully and completely.

This.

Seeing how it's already illegal to threaten to kill anyone, I don't know how anyone would think that it's okay, even in the heat of the moment, to threaten to kill the president.

What if you have big enough balls to say "I'm going to kill the President...with my balls!". Do you get special treatment or a harsher sentence based on the actual size of said balls and the threat that they possess?
