The EPIC WIN Thread 3: SON OF EPIC

If one is in Dutch with someone, one is in trouble. Not to be confused with "going Dutch treat," which means to split the bill for a date.
I never knew about so many meanings of the word "Dutch" before the internet.
Still, how did "in Dutch" became to mean "in trouble" I wonder?
Probably from "Dutch Uncle" to mean a stern rebuke.

Dutch uncle: Definition from Answers.com
Also to not be confused with a Dutch Wife

Two of my friends just got engaged.

Epic win for ME because this will be the first wedding I attend that I'll give a shit about.

"in Dutch" ? I tried urbing that and failed... Does that mean in debt, in love, or in a bad fight?
I've never heard it before either.
Crazy Americans.
You need to start watching more black and white Hollywood movies.
Ah, so its not an American thing, its an old person thing. Gotchya. :p
The only black and white movies I ever seem to enjoy are European ones, now that you mention it.

Right at :30 then the person who uploaded it put in music not from the movie. Which sucks.

Yeah, I'm American, and I had never heard it before. I just figured it was a Kansas thing. You non-USAsians don't forget that due to the formative history of this country, there are tons of local subcultures. I mean, every country is like that, I guess.

Got a call from an elementary school nearby. They need a substitute English teacher for two weeks, starting next Tuesday.

WOOT! ^^

Congrats! Any chance this will go more long term? I know you wanted something close.
Nah, it was clear from the get-go that this is a short-term thing. "Two weeks, more or less" was what I was told. But it will help me in three ways:
1.) Some extra cash
2.) Rack up some experience, which is where I'm lacking.
3.) Become eligible to join OAJ, the teachers' union.

But mostly this'll be about experience.

YESSSSSSSSS

I finally have passed all my first year courses! I had to retake the test for the course I had to redo because I failed it, but I finally made it! Time to celebrate!

The incredibly cute Australian waitress at my favorite bar bought me a beer last night. It might not be an epic win, but it made me feel like it was.

Whoa, that's a lotta pills... What do they do?

Google search tells me Cyproteronacetaat is an anti-androgen, and progynova is an estrogen replacement drug, so I imagine these are Ame's transition drugs

Went to a job fair and got an interview call. Then I went to a gym and worked out a bit! Feeling good!

Way to go, Ame! :D Very happy for you.

I had a very nice day. The kids are starting to respect me as much as they do a regular teacher... at least to my face.

Congrats to Ame! Frank, congrats for Aussie beer-purchasers! NR, congrats for a job helping you get your foot in the door. Much love to y'all! *manly hugs all around*

This was the first morning in months where the heat index was below 90. My air conditioner was not running this morning when I awoke... The air temperature was 65 easily 15 degrees cooler than Monday. On the drive into work I ran the car with the windows cracked and the sunroof open... It was such a glorious morning.

Then I get to work and there was a lot of broken sh!t... (so not completely epic)

Starting Sunday, I'll be spending three days in Orlando and visiting Universal Orlando. Can't wait to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

I'll be sure to let you know how it is.
