Starbucks has too many cougars in their stores from what I hear. I haven't seen any, but I wouldn't want to be a victim of a sneak attack while waiting for my macchiato.

Yeah, I guess.

The worst part is that actually got to me... and that's my fault and the reason I'm probably taking a more extended leave than I thought. I'm not gonna say I'm gone for good cause this place has been a part of my life for something like 6 years, but I'm definitely not gonna be around for a long while. Not until I stop caring.

I for one will miss having Calleja around during his absence.

As for rep, i got negative rep for Mattsquared's no you can't post here thread. I'm actually surprised I don't get negative reps more often. Most are just content to quietly ignore me though.

I'll miss the guy too. I can't believe that there seem to be so many people that dislike him... there doesn't seem to be any reason to, as far as I can tell. And yet there's guys who are harping on him every chance they get, and gloating about it.

Sometimes perception on the internet is a little out of whack. It can be easy to take things out of context especially when it drags on a bit longer than what we would think of as just joking around. And sometimes the shtick gets worn out.

I'm wondering if we should get rid of the Rep thing... I may be wrong, but it seems like it was used to anonymously troll Calleja into oblivion.

Any chance of a mod/admin verifying that?

I could but I don't really see what end it would serve.

I really don't think the rep thing was what got rid of Calleja. If everything were fine in his life right now, I suspect he would shrug what happened off. But with sick relatives around, I think he felt like he needed a little break because he was having trouble shrugging it off.

Well, I guess what I'm saying is that if the feature is used for anonymous trolling, is it really something we want to keep around?

Yeah, I'm sure that's the truth. But the fact that rep can be used to gain up on someone who's going through that kind of pain right now, without him even knowing who's saying it, points to how the feature can be misused to ill effect.

Anything on the forum can be used for trolling. And the rep is not anonymous. We have made it clear several times that if someone receives a nasty negrep, they can PM a mod and THEY can see who commented what. They'll take action after that if they find it necessary.

Having checked Calleja's rep history, the only negative comment he's received over the past few days was signed by the commenter, and was really more of a difference of opinions than a troll.

The rep system has been a lot more positive than negative so far, and like I said, if we can't take a little negative with the positive, then we shouldn't have a forum or an internet at all.

Calleja is one of my favorite people on the boards. I won't say where but he's in the top 5. If he left the place would be a little darker.
