E-Reader advice

So, I want to buy an e-reader. One that is preferably in colour and can do PDFs. I don't want to spend more than a couple of hundred bucks on it either, so the Ipad is not the best choice for me. Anyone know of a good choice or a place that can offer me good advice on them? There's like 12000 of those God damn things now.

You can pick up a Kobo at Chapters for around $150 bucks. My wife and I both have one... they are great little bare bones e-readers. They supposedly do read PDF files but I have yet to try this out. The screens are also only black and white... but for the money... they are excellent.

Actually, if you put PDF's on an SD card (the Kobo supports up to 4gb SD cards but not the SDHC cards) you could probably try it out on a store's demo model and see if you like what you see.

I would really wait, actually. There's supposed to be a whole slew of updated readers coming to market in the holiday season, which means more bang for your buck on new models and lower prices on older ones.

I would recommend waiting. iPad is making a hit, but it is expensive. This is a good time for generic e-reader to come out a bit cheaper to compete with iPad capabilities (IMO)

Frank, are you looking at getting an actual e-reader using e-ink technology or do you want something that's a backlit LCD screen like an iPad?

I was using the Sony E-reader but now I am use Amazon's kindle. I like the kindle better then the sony. Both are black and whit. If I had the money I would get the Ipad. But the kindle's price has gone down in price.

Yea. My wife was looking at Kindle with great interest. The Kindle still have free 3G network (only good for downloading books not net surfing capability the model we look at) When I got her the iPad, she download all the e-readers on her iPad (kindle, nook and one other I don't remember), but if I didn't buy her the iPad, she would have gotten a kindle.

Prices of Kindle HAS gone down since the release of iPad :)
