Please Explain-PVP

I don't know if you have been following the last couple of weeks but it seems Scott's art is improving at an unreal rate. His recent strip with Jade was phenomenal. And the jokes have been pretty good.

Then came today's strip: http://www.pvponline.com/comics/pvp20100902.png

I must be missing something here. Please tell me what I'm overlooking. I thought maybe he had a cross over strip with PA and checked their site but didn't see anything.

Wow, it's like a way-back machine trip to the time of tracing all his characters. Commercials for a week about how great PAX is and how we should all be there.

From Kurtz's twitter.

Just announced onstage at PAX: "The Trenches." A new comic strip in the works from me, @cwgabriel and @tychobrahe #pax #excited
Iiiiinteresting.

I liked this strip. I think it WAS a bit of a throwback as they broke the 4th wall. He hasn't done that in YEARS!

Have you seen the cast of characters? They look...familiar...5 people working in a game office and hilarity ensues.

Let's see, there's the normal guy (Max), the guy with long hair that has a sarcastic look on his face (Brent), the token chick (Jade), the balding old guy (Cole) and the young kid with long hair and an attitude (Francis). All they need is a Troll and a panda and it's PvP Mark 2.

Philosopher B.

Robert was in there too and they wanted to talk to me about something. That can be good or bad, but this time it was good.
I don't know why, but this struck me as funny.

As for the premise, color me meh. On the other hand, anything involving the PA boys directly has to be made of radsauce, right? Plus, just looking at the humpty-dumpty-ish dude with the 'stache makes me laugh.

Wow, he actually drew Jade's eyes properly.. like the hair actually covers the eyes! Maybe he still read this?

Still missing the eyelashes. :)

So Kurt is doing the art though? Yeah... dude can't even get his strip up every day... unless this is a once a week or something...

Friday, for example.

;)

But he DID say that his schedule would be hectic due to PAX so at least it's not completely outta nowhere.

Wow, the art for that new strip makes my eyes bleed. I think that's the most repulsive character design I've ever seen from professional artists.

Disconnected

Really? no one yet? Ok I'll do it. Fuck you. It's funny.

Also, he's now surrounded by arteeeeests again. I'm sure tips n tricks must be going back n forth at an alarming rate perhaps its actually helping.

Actually, that art looks like Gabe's more than Scott's.[/QUOTE]
That is Gabes art, but I was pretty sure I read on Scott's blog he was doing the art and they were handling the writing or something.

Also: Dave: No, you are right he does generally get the strip up every day (except for last friday as Gusto pointed out), but often it's at 11pm. It just seems like doing PVP takes him a LONG time, which is fine, but it does make me worry about him overcommitting when it seems that he's struggling to stay on the current schedule. I mean, how long was he promising a buffer week for himself? I like Scott (in the way that anyone from his old forum can) but... his track record ain't great.

Scott posted a while back that even his father tore him a new one about having a buffer. That lasted just a couple of months.

Reboneer

If I recall correctly, the whole reason he changed to a M-F schedule was so he could build a buffer. So much for that.

I see the Trenches as Kurtz's way to get his gaming jokes/comments/asides out instead of having to do it through PVP, which he appears to have moved more and more away from.

That could be a very valid observation - one which I hadn't thought of. But it is still PvP Mark II to me until I see it in action.

We are on the same page. For whatever reason, I still give Kurtz the benefit of the doubt and stupidly turning a blind eye to past action.
