Lair of the Shadow Broker

Has anyone purchased this ME2 DLC yet? How much play content is there? I see that the download is 1.5gb, but that could be a lot of graphics and not a lot of gameplay.

A good bit, actually. It's a good story, about as long as Overlord. You get to have Liara in your team for a bit and can continue the relationship with her if you started it in ME1. She does not join your team past the mission, though. It does provide you a lot of additional resources as well. I was finally able to get every upgrade and had a substantial amount of money left over.

So I hear there's some bug with the PC version of Shadow Broker that makes it unable to be played. :(

I just checked and yes, they had a bad file up. It was pulled and they are working on the fix, so hang in there PC Peeps! However, if you have the game on the Xbox as I do, then go ahead and download it and enjoy. :D

I just blew like 40 bucks on ME2 and DA:O DLC. I think the only things I don't own are the new weapons for ME2 and the prank bullshit for DA:O. Bioware must just fucking love rubes like me.

Blech, downloading everything for ME2 on a shitty internet connection sucks.

Trying to put something like 6 or so gigs through a 300 KB/s max line.

Well, just played through Overlord and Shadow Broker and I gotta say, both are worth their download price. Overlord has some really fun hammerhead driving mixed in with some really, really dark sci-fi bits as well as the voice acting of one Simon Templeman (Kain from Legacy of Kain) while Shadow Broker adds some depth as to why Liara is not with you on the big mission. The only thing I didn't like about Shadow Broker was really
the Shadow Broker himself. At first when he was shadowed I thought he was some mutant giant Volus and thought that would have been hilarious, but he just ends up being some no-name giant alien monster. It's also pretty trusting of my Liara loving Shepard that he doesn't mind that she's shacked up now with some Drell spy guy. I guess if I'd read the comic I'd understand that relationship more.

The car chase bit in Shadow Broker was a blast as well. Really fun with some funny banter.

Jesus Christ, the dichotomy in quality between Mass Effect 2 and DA:O is fucking staggering. I managed to run into an awesome DA:O bug that unauthorized me from using any of the DLC I had paid for, and that took a couple of hours to fix (including redownloading all bajillion gigs of DLC). The Mass Effect 2 DLC is a ton of fun. All of it has a nice length, about 1-2 hours or so each and all involve some nice additions to the story unlike the Dragon Age DLCs which are all incredibly lazy, all of which just reuse assets from the vanilla game. Almost none of the DA:O DLC have new locations. They're over in about 20 minutes each and the God damn Darkspawn one didn't even bother to get someone to do voiceovers for it.

Mass Effect 2 DLCs: Work when you download them, are good.

Dragon Age Origins DLCs: May work when you download, are terrible.

Did anyone play through the romantic conclusion of Shadow Broker, having cheated on Liara during Mass Effect 2?

I wonder how that plays out....

I cheated on Liara afterward and it was kinda funny. You have a picture of her on your desk and once you cheat on her, the picture is face down on the desk.

According to the wiki, if you meet with Liara on the Normandy after the Shadow Broker DLC and had a relationship with her in the first game BUT THEN CHEATED ON HER IN THE SECOND...

...she will ask you what you're fighting for, in regards to whoever you cheated on her with. You can tell her that you care about that person, and she'll wish you and your new partner future happiness, regardless of who it may be (Jack, Garrus, Tali, Miranda, Jacob, Thane).

Since I maintained my loyalty to Liara through my Paragon playthrough...

...She came to my room and asked me what the rest of the conflict as in store for us. It was a touching moment where you can either tell Liara that because you can't be together now, you want to just be friends OR that you'll be together after the Reapers are dealt with in ME3. If you make that commitment to her as I did, commenting that you'll settle down, get married, and have "lots of little blue children", the two of you share an embrace, asses are grabbed, Liara's eyes go black, and it is implied that you have sex.

Afterwards, she leaves the Normandy, thanking you "for the drinks... and the other things."

I found it to be a pretty touching scene, and it made me glad that my Shepard chose not to stray.

Excellend DLC.

I enjoyed the final battle and Liara is awesome.

Too bad my Shepard can seem to convince people to release hostages but cannot convince Liara and Tali to have a threesome.
